Help in choosing an off site resort

I have enough credits to get my son and I down to Orlando for a second visit but we really don't have the funds to stay at a Disney resort. I tried to book online with the free dining offer but because it is so last minute there are no moderates or value resorts available. Edited to add that we plan to visit Aug 19th to the 23rd and boy is it tough to get any dinner reservations at this late time too!

Does anyone have any advice about where to stay to save $$$?
It will be my mom, my son (8) and myself.

Check out the great rates for the Caribe Royale. It is minutes from Disney and has a shuttle. It is 1 & 2 bedroom suites and if you get the mousesavers rates you can get a 1 bedroom for as little as $89/night. We love it there, the pool is great and the location is fantastic. We have stayed several times and it was hard to pick an onsite vs going back because it is such a good deal. The pics are exactly what it looks like in person. One tip though, eat off site from there because we haven't found the restaurants are worth it. There are several restaurants right around there Olie Garden, Orlando Ale House (our favorite) Cici's Pizza, Giordanos, Pizzeria Uno, etc.
