Although I've been there a million times :) I have only eaten at what is now called Teppen Edo in Japan- where they cook the food on the table. I'm remembering there is another restaurant across the pavilion from this one- kind of behind where the drummers drum and up some stairs through a garden- what is this place?? My husband wants to eat here and I'm having trouble identifying it to make an ADR. Is it Tokyo Dining?? If so- the photos on the Disney web-site don't impress me so much.
Help me out- what's the name and should we give it a try?

okay so now my husband is telling me that the place I'm thinking of and where he wants to eat is a counter service place. Does this sound right? Why have I never seen this place before??

Hello Calle & Jakes.....

HMmmm.... Well ...It is a family tradition for my family to eat at Teppan Edo (formerly Teppan Yaki). Behind the drummers is a Japanese Garden. Across from Teppan Edo is a Kiosk with Japanese items for sale...and Underneath is Shopping in Japan. I believe there is counter service underneath as well...a window...

BUT I do seem to remember tables & Chairs for dining near the Japanese Garden....

SO....to find the place you are looking for...I would recommend starting a Thread that asks for an aerial view of Japan in Epcot...

Hopefully Robo will come to the rescue and post one...then you can figure out which restaurant you are looking for....

Yes, I've seen Robo's maps- he's good! i'll have to ask.
It's so strange... I'm so familiar with the Teppen Edo and we always go to the store underneath. My husband keeps talking about this place that I can only remember from the outside! Maybe it is the Japanese Garden. Do they have a counter service restaurant there?

There is another TS restaurant on the second floor of the pavilion along with Teppan Edo ... it's called Tokyo Dining. They have a nice selection of food and some decent sushi.

There is a CS place tucked back near the koi pond ... I think it's called the Yakatori House and that may be what your hubby is thinking of.

Yakitori House is Japan's CS restaurant, and is in a seperate building then the other two restaurants. Tokyo Dining is in the big building and up the stairs.

I beleive you are thinking of the Yakatori House. It is a CS restaurant and it is upstairs and behind where the drummers entertain. There are tables and chairs inside and also outside in the Japanese Garden. It is a bit out of the way and very peaceful. We ate there last month and enjoyed it very much.
Since it is CS you would not need an ADR and could eat here whenever it fit in your schedule.
Have a Great Trip

It is one of our favorite CS in Epcot. The food has never disappointed us. Grab a table outside and it is like you are in an oasis hidden from the crowds. We usually go to the shop located in the back of the pavillion and order some Sake-to-go and enjoy that with our meals. Hope you enjoy it...it's a hidden gem.
