I'm looking at buying into DVC through resale. It would be at Boardwalk for 50 pts. If I were to do this and then buy 50 pts later at let's say OKW, does this give me the 11 month window at both places? If I'm right I could use BW and OKW pts at the same time but when I make the ressie are they going know that I don't have all the pts right now but I will when it's time to travel? Just because of my starting month will be different from BW to OKW. Any help would be great before I make the investment and find out I'm going about this the wrong way. Thank You!!!

You will only be able to use the 11 month window for BWV with BWV points. OKW can ba reserved at 11 months out with OKW points.

As for the other question, I am not sure I understand.

If you are asking if you can make reservations in January for a stay in July with points that will not be allocated to you until March. The answer is yes. You only have to be within the 7/11 month window and will have the points available when your stay begins.

Robin pretty much said it. Remember that if you wanted to use both OKW and BWV points for the same reservation, then it could only be done at the 7-month window, no matter which resort you wanted, because no matter which one you picked, half your points would be home-resort points, and half would not. The points that are not home-resort would then force the whole reservation to be made at 7-months.

Are you saying you would only buy 50 points to start with? I believe Disney has a 150 point minimum for ownership.

Diane is correct. DVC has a 150 point minimum. I've heard of some people buying less through resale but you should be aware that you will not have enough points to take advantage of the outside trade options (need at least a week's worth of points). Also, you will be paying high closing costs for a small amount of points bumping up your total cost. Because of the cost factor small resale packages are pretty tricky to come by. These are just some things to consider. You might be better off waiting until your situation would allow you to do a 150 point purchase at a resort, rather than buy two 50 point packages.

What's the outside trade option? Thanks for all the help, you guys are so informative, it's wonderful!!!

If you wanted to trade for one of the Interval International options .... condo accomodation trades all over the world .... they generally require trading a week in at least a one-bedroom at a DVC resort. Even the purchase of 150 points carries a disclaimer that this option is still difficult at that level of point ownership.
