Can anyone help, I've been allocated stateroom 2004 which is on the list of "noisy" cabins. Does anyone have any idea why its on there or how to find out? Next door, 2006 is not on there so I'm hoping its nothing too bad. It depends on what type of noise it gets as to what we do about it. We paid an amendment fee already to change from a Cat 11 to a Cat 9 so I'm not keen on paying more fees to change it again.

I've never actually read that anyone in those cabins thought they were noisy. I've never read anything bad about the rooms on that floor, other than that they COULD be noisy. Most posts are overwhelmingly positive about the area. I'm not sure walking down the hall and listening for noise can give an accurate report of whether a room is loud or not. Do a search for that room number and read a report from someone who has actually stayed in the room before you give up on it.:D

Take along a little fan if you are worried. The humming from that would mask engine noise. Before I went I read my room might be noisy. I absolutely LOVED the location and didn't hear anything out of the ordinary.:D

I'm not sure about that area of the ship, but there are definitely areas on deck 2 that I would avoid. We were in 2632 and while I knew it was on the "noisy room" list, I wasn't worried. We're not very sensitive to noise. The noise in this room, from the engine and loading dock next door, was VERY loud. We were woken up every morning (except the sea day) when the ship docked. A fan would not have blocked out the noise.
I know that some rooms on the list are worse than others. Hopefully, someone else has stayed in that room and can let you know how bad the noise is.

I thought about upgrading my room from 2098 to a veranda room and was never told that there was an amendment fee.
I asked my TA if I decided to upgrade would that be a problem and they said no as long as the catagory I wanted was still available. Could someone please tell me how much the fee is or does it vary by TA'S? Thanks in advance.

We stayed in cabin 2000 on our cruise last November and I can confirm that section is very noisy, but only when the ship is docking. The first morning we docked at St. Maarten, we all awoke with a "what was that?!" After that it didn't bother us because we knew what the noise was. We weren't traveling with children, so I don't know how young ones would react to the noise. Hope this helps.

Linda:)

My cruise was booked through a TA here in the UK. They charged £10 per person for each change ( a total of about $47 for the 3 of us). Its probable that things are different in the US. I assume that the charges here are for the international phone calls etc. as its a charge made by the Travel operator (Transolar) and not Disney When I altered my booking I rang my TA who gave me a price for the Cat 9 room which was lower than the price I had when I booked the original Cat 11. Even with the £30 fees it was practically the same price.

I am trying to be positive about the noise issue but if there were a serious problem with this cabin I would pay again to change it.

I intend to keep an eye on the prices charged over here as if they go down again it would be worth me altering my booking again.

Thanks Linda

Great to hear from someone who has stayed so close to our cabin.

A bit of noise in the morning will be no problem at all. We are travelling with a teenager so no young children to be frightened If thats all the noise in that area I definately will not be bothering to alter my booking. We are all early risers and due to the time difference with the UK we will probably be up early anyway.

Thanks for replying

:) You're very welcome. Hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise. We did! We'll be going on the Western in August. Can't wait!

2nd floor staterooms can vary greatly in noise levels...On our cruise last year, we had 2520, which was a nightmare...we were below one of the clubs, and the thumping and overall noise was very unpleasant. However, on our cruise this past Oct, we opted for 2114, which turned out to be a great stateroom - although technically on Dave's noisy stateroom list, it turned out to be super quiet and exceptionally convenient....a non adjoining stateroom near aft elevators...

Stay away from 2616 which is directly under the galley! They prepared food all night long. We got very little sleep. There was a lot of banging, and machines were running and so forth. Thankfully, we were able to switch rooms the next night.

A year ago, October, I upgraded from a cat 10 to cat 6 for $358.00. I waited until we arrived at port and inquired as to the cost for an upgrade. We arrived early and rooms were still available.

We originally reservred a cat 6 room (myself, DH and 11 DS) at $2900.00. We changed to a cat 10 to take advantage of a Florida resident special, reducing the cost to @ 1600.00. We couldn't pass up the savings....and we figured since it was our first cruise we wouldn't know what we were missing by not having a verandah.

My DH and DS didn't know that I had upgrade and it was a great surprise to them.

Good luck!!

My cabin wasn't bad at all except in the mornings. We were located in cabin 8596 deck 8. This cabin is directly under the buffet area. Early in the morning they are washing down the deck and moving the chairs constantly. So...if you like to sleep in this is one cabin you might like to avoid if possible, plus the balcony front is solid metal, not see thru plexiglass.

Have a Disney Day!!:earsgirl:
