My family and I are heading to the World in September and we want to do the 'pool thing' most of the time. Meaning.... heading down early, scoping out chairs, setting up camp and hanging out all day.

It will be my DH and I, our DD, 4, who lives for the water, DD 2 1/2, who is also a fish, and DS, almost 5 months old, loves baths, has yet to do the pool, and will prolly spend most of his time out of the water with mama. :teeth

We are splitting our time between AKL and BCV for SAB.

Are there umbrellas that can be moved around? SHade is a must for baby and me.

Can we bring a cooler (hard or soft)

I am clueless as this will be our first time doing the pool day thing........ and nervous about the little one!

Any suggestions??

Thanks sooooooo much!

Umbrellas are fixed at tables or by chairs. You can't move them around. Bring a good sunscreen.

We spent quite a bit of pool time this past trip. You can bring a small cooler but I wouldn't bring any glass bottles. I used the refillable mugs a lot on the pool days since they refill at Mara which is right by the pool. I also packed snacks in my tote so when the kids were hungry they could grab a quick bite.

AKL has lots of shade available but not all of it is within site of the pool. There are chairs with umbrellas available but they went really fast. I noticed that the baby pool was usually empty, probably because AKL is a zero entry pool, so there were chairs in the shade there.

I suggest all things the others posted. We always bring our cooler. The rolling ones are the best:D Lots of water, snacks, and refillable mugs. The nice thing about doing a pool day is that you can take the little ones up for a nap or just to get out of the sun for a little bit. I don't want to start a big debate about saving chairs at the pool, but I personally think that if you had to go up to your room for about an hour, you should be able to leave your stuff at the table/chair until you come back, especially if you've been there already for quite some time. At SAB you can bring sand toys for your little ones, that will keep them busy.

Enjoy your stay!

Although our granddaughter had just turned one year when we were there in April, which is obviously, older than your little one, the one thing that was a great help was that we brought her stroller to the pool with us and when she was tired we were able to let her sleep in her stroller and used a towel to shade her. Also, if she started to get fussy, it was easy to just take her in the stroller for either a walk around the pool/resort area or to go back to the room with her while the others stayed. We were at OKW which is very easy to get around with with a stroller. I'm sure anyone who sees that you have three small children will understand if you leave your things to take any of the children back for a nap or to feed them and then return. Have a wonderful trip!
