Help! I need support for a party tonight!

We have a Halloween party to attend tonight & I just received an email that they are serving pizza for dinner & cupcakes/brownies for dessert!! :scared: How could they do that to me...I LOVE puckerup: brownies! I have already planned to count my WW points, and know how much pizza I can have, but the brownies have thrown me for a loop!

I've been doing really well, and am so excited about my weight loss, this time around. My weigh in is tomorrow night, so I don't want to screw up!! HELP ME!!! :scared1:
 
Tiffany, {{ hugs }} to you!! Parties can be SCARY for those of us who are trying to watch what we eat!!

If I know they'll be having stuff that isn't on my plan, I usually eat right before I go, so I'll be full and won't be so tempted. Then, if there's one thing there that I REALLY want, I'll try to take just a small piece and be happy with that. Maybe you can split a brownie with someone else, or just through half of it away? I don't do WW so I can't help you with the points. :(

Another thing to be careful of is DO NOT hang out near the food!! Try to sit / stand as far away as possible and turn your back on all that food. Keep a large glass of ice water or other allowable drink in your hand and drink a LOT!! That will help you stay full and you won't want to eat as much.

Are there any legal sweets that you can bring with you?

For me, I could bring an Atkins brownie bar and just munch on that while everyone else has brownies!

Maybe some sugar free chocolate or something? Just to satisfy your sweet tooth, so you don't give in.

If that idea doesn't work - then how about just limiting yourself to 1/2 brownie? That way you'll get a taste, and you won't feel bad about cheating so much.
 
I show a brownie-1 piece (2" square) is 5 points. If you really want a brownie - work it into your points. I usually count pizza as 7 points and it works. It really depends on the size etc. If you have already had too many points to have the brownie, doing half might not be so bad. Do you do the flex points? Do you have any left. I love that flex points allows you to have things last minute that you might not have planned for.

If you decide to have a brownie.......just have one though. Don't let the "well I had one, turn into I can have 2 or more). I think the key is to eat things in moderation. I have really been trying to practice real life- forever type eating. Dh made a carrot cake (darn him, its one of my favorites), and each slice was 16 points (for 1/12 of the cake). So for the last two nigts, I watched what I ate at dinner and cut the piece in half for 8 points each night.

I won't or wouldn't want to do this regularly because there is little nutritional value in the cake, and I am giving up points that I would normally eat healthier snacks. But, this is life and I wanted the cake so I had it. No guilt!

Thanks guys! I think I will eat an apple before I go, and take a WW 2 pt. bar for dessert. Then, if I decide to have a BITE only!! - then, I will account for the points. I do have about 22 Flex points available, but I usually try to be really good the day before I weigh in!

I really like the idea about being careful not to hang out around the food! Definitely too much temptation! :tongue:

OMG, 22 flex points left and you weigh in tomorrow. I couldn't even imagine. I am a use them " don't loose them" type gal! I eat almost all of my flex points (sometimes all of them, usually only a few left) and any AP points I earn. I also didn't go down to the next level once I hit 150. As long as I loose eating 22 points plus my flex, then I won't change it. So far so good.

Thanks everybody! I survived! :cool1: However, I did eat 3 pieces of pizza, rather than the 2 I planned on. And, I only had about 4 bites of the yummy desserts! So, I ate my points for the day, and 10 bonus points. I know it isn't bad, but I just hate that it had to be on the day before my weigh-in.

hehe... :bitelip: I think I'm going to cheat, and go give blood today! That should help my w-i! :p
 
Tiffany, what a way to drop some weight before your weigh-in!! :laughing: I must confess that I've noticed the scale go down after I donate blood...LOL!!

I'm glad to hear you survived your party! Now you've got more ideas to survive the next one - parties and holidays and celebrations are part of life and we'll all have to get used to dealing with them.

Goodness, I never thought about donating blood to lose weight, LOL.

Sounds like you handled the party pretty well. Way to go!
