I am still an "unseasoned Disney traveler" and as such am trying to learn about all the different ways to stay at Disney Resorts at discounted rates... I'm reading as much as possible from this Disboards, and am finding some great info....but...still unclear on: How do I find discount codes// What are AP rates, how do I find them? PHP's (same question) My family DW, dd(11) dD(19), Dme are traveling to FL late July, early Aug and desire to stay at Poly or AK ( We we at BW 2yrs ago and liked it) I see that there is a Fairytale Vacation Package that apparently is a good deal...so I contacted Dreams Unlimited ( is this a good choice??) they responded w/ 1 week Poly Conc $3300. Is this good?? sounds like a bit much... I'll probably lower my sights if not... Is it possible that joining DVC is a practical option?) Any suggestions??? Many thanks in advance to anyone that can help..... Alan:confused: :p :p :p

I'm a DVC member since 2000, so I'll take a shot at a few of your questions.

If you have your heart set on Poly or AK, DVC is not the most practical option. However, if you will return to WDW on an annual or bi-annual basis and like to stay on property at Deluxe resorts, it could be practical for you.

I suggest you swing over to the DVC discussion forum here on the DIS, and also check out the Rent/trade board. DVC owners can rent points to others, and you can often try a "home-away-from-home" resort by renting points for much less cash expense than booking the same rooms via CRO. A July/August trip may be a bit too close to do a DVC point rental at this point, though you may also get a great bargain if someone has ressies they have to give up now.

At the very least, take the DVC tour while you are at WDW.

Good luck deciding and have fun on your trip!

I'll try to help a little more. Disney advertises their codes through newspaper travel sections and postcards to previous guests. They are usually three letters, i.e. "XYZ" code. When people see them they share the info with others here on the disboards and on www.mousesavers.com. What mousesavers does is to put lists together to make is easier to see what is our there.

AP means Annual Pass. It allows you into the four parks as often as you want for a year. Disney often times offers a discount on rooms for AP holders. An annual pass costs more than a Park Hopper Pass, but the savings on a room has always made up for the cost of the AP. If an AP discount (code) is offered only one person in your party needs to hold an AP pass and you do not have to have it to make the reservation. You only need it at check in. Therefore, you do not have to purchase the pass unless it is really going to benefit you.

Back to mousesavers: check out the web sight. It will tell you everything. Some of the different type of discounts you will see are: Annual Pass, Postcard or newspaper codes (and whether these are for everyone or not), discounts for residents of certain states, military discounts, etc.

As far as your Poly reservation, a lagoon view room at the Poly with concierge service is $470.00 a night when you want to go, an Ultimate Park Hopper pass (which comes with the package is $365.30. I think that calculates to $5129.55 for four of you if you were paying full price. Please don't take my calculations as gospel! You can check room rate for yourself at disneyworld.com and ticket prices on the disboards under Theme Parks. A garden view room without concierge is $299.00, something to consider.

This is a hugh amount of information, probably more than you needed! Hope it helps a little. The more you check out for yourself the easier it is to understand.

Good Luck and have fun planning!
