Christmas is going to be a bit different this year. We're celebrating with my husband's mom at her house on Christmas Eve and my husband's aunt will be there.

In Christmases past, we usually gave her a gift card to Target and another small gift (one year a nightgown, one a throw, one a pretty picture frame...). This year, though, since we get my husband's mom and sister several gifts, we need to get some more for my husband's aunt so she'll have enough to open while the rest of us open gifts. I need some ideas.

His aunt is in her late 60's-early 70's, unmarried, no kids, just retired, is a bit of a homebody because she is a big germaphobe. I don't know of any hobbies or if she likes to read. She's funny about her clothes, but she does wear a lot of cardigans, so I was thinking of getting her a new cardigan.

I just need some ideas for smaller gifts that won't just clutter her house. TIA!:worship:

How about a basket of "food goodies". You can wrap each item separately and include things like cookies, chocolates, etc..

TJ Maxx and Marshalls are great for finding specialty food items really affordably at this time of the year.

Slippers
cozy socks
box of chocolates
giftcards

I saw at Pier 1 these darlin tea pots that were little teapots and the cup sits under the tea pot until used and the tea pot was big enough for one cup of tea or hot water.

If a tea/coffee/hot choclate drinker, some nicer brands of tea bags/coffee/hot chocolate.
A cozy blanket with a good book/movie
A pretty new ornament/christmas decoration
Nice fluffy new towels/washcloths/handtowels
New kitchen towels/dish cloths/ovenmitts

I'll keep thinking

Someone usually gets me an amaryllis bulb in a pot and I love those. They're low maintenance and very pretty.

Second the gourmet food idea also! I had an elderly aunt and she was always nibbling on some cheese or chocolate someone had gotten her. She loved it.

Maybe a magazine subscription? Reader's Digest or Southern Living?

Maybe some dvds or cds? You could pick classical music, and the dvds don't have to be current. Could be she hasn't been to the movies in some time.

:)

Thank you for all the ideas! Keep them coming - I'm writing them all down.

Tina - it's wonderful to see that new picture in your signature!

My wife and I are going to make her mother (who is 85) a stocking full of stuffers

Stamps
Stickers (she likes to buy stickers and put them in people cards or letters she sends out)
envelopes
Her favorite soaps
Knee hi socks to keep her feet and legs warm during the winter months
Scratch off lottery tickets
Hairspray
Deodorant
Body lotion for her dry skin
Gift card to her supermarket
and any other small items she buys for herself
We look around her house every time we visit so we can get more ideas.

hope this might help you with ideas

Here are some possibilities
gift cards to different stores
popcorn tins
kitchen items
a small clock

If I think of more. I will post here.
