This year we have decided to not go to DisWorld because we find it to be too much stress with our 4 and 2 year olds. They are just to busy all the time and we want to try something else. We are thinking about a cruise, but I don't want to fly across the US and the Mexcio cruises are so expensive. In addition to our points we have a couple thousand disney dollars on our visa card that we have accrued from remodeling and such.

What would you do instead? My husband is sick of talking to me about it, so I need some outside advice. TIA!!

I agree that the Mexico cruises are way overpriced.

But if your 2 year old will be 3 by the time you travel (and potty trained), then I think a cruise would be just what you need. You can take your kids on vacation and never see them! And unlike other lines, with Disney you can leave your kids in the club for lunch and dinner. You'll all experience the magic of Disney without the hassles of the park. And you and your DH will be able to have some quality time alone.

I'd suggest doing a 7-day caribbean sailing on DCL. You'd just need to compare prices through DCL and MS and decide if you want to book through DCL or DVC. In general, you are better of NOT using points for a cruise. But it depends upon your specific situation.

Just give the kids some dramameine when you get on the plane, and you'll be fine.:thumbsup2

I really want to do a cruise also, but it will cost us over 2000 dollars to fly over to Florida. My daughter will only be 2 and 1/2 during that time, but we may still do it. Thanks for the input.

Another option, if your plans are flexible is to wait and see if they offer discounted rates on the Mexico sailings. I think there's a good chance of that happening, especially at the beginning of the season. What I'd expect is that they'll offer CA resident discounts at about 30% off and/or Cat 12 guarantees for perhaps around $899 pp.

This is totally just my opinion. But last summer, I'd booked a cat 11 on the 11 night med for $5200 for DD and me. A month or so out, they offered Cat 12 guarantees at half the price. I switched to the 12, and got half my money off. And we were upgraded to a Cat 11!

Keep an eye on the Cat 12 prices for Mexico. With 4 people, you can book a cat 12, but you'll automatically be upgraded to at least an 11.

With kids that age - I'd do something that gave me large enough accommodations to bring along a pair of doting grandparents or grandmother/auntie that would just LOVE to entertain the two year old!

We used points once to go to the Tanque Verde Ranch in Tucson about 6 years ago and remains to be one of our top 5 vacations (with kids) ever.

Though, I heard it might have been taken off of the concierge list this year. I don't know for sure.

I think starbox has a great idea too, regardless of where you go.
