We are leaving in a few days for my sons MAW trip to WDW and staying at Give Kids the World Resort (about 15 minutes away from WDW). We will be driving our rental car to the parks every day. So, here are my questions:

1. From the entrance of WDW, how long does it take to get to Grand Floridian? We have a ADR at 1900 PF at 9:30 so I want to make sure we arrive on time.

2. Is driving around WDW insanely complicated?

I appreciate any tips you have to offer.:thumbsup2 It's been 12 years since my last visit to WDW (although we are frequent visitors of DL but WDW is so different). We leave in just 4 short days....I'm freaking out just a bit :goodvibes

Thank you so much for your help!

about seven or eight miles. The speed limits are around 40 MPH in general and are enforced so probably 15 minutes. Parking at GF can be distant so add another 5-7 minutes there.

Disney has great signage in my opinion. We stay onsite but use our car for everything bu the MK and don't have any problems getting where we need to go. It's a lot easier if you have someone riding with you to read the signs. Traffic can be heavy at times.

From Give Kids The World, it is about 30 minutes to the Grand Floridian.

Stay to the right when you approach the Magic Kingdom toll booth. The exit to the Magic Kingdom resorts is on the right shortly after the booth. If you stay to the left you will end up in the MK parking lot.

If you have a disabled hand tag bring it with you. With a disabled tag there is no charge for valet parking at any of the deluxe resorts. Note that the valets are tip positions.

If you are going to the Magic Kingdom that day then just park in the MK parking lot and take the monorail to the Grand Floridian, just make sure that you get on to the Resort Monorail. This way you wont have to move your car again later, and you can just ride the monorail to the Magic Kingdom after you eat. :)

I am thinking it would take about 15 minutes from the entrance of the Magic Kingdom to ride the monorail to the Grand Floridian. So maybe about an hour from where you are saying to get parked & to the monorail and to the Grand Floridian. That should give you plenty of time. Like I said, this will also save you time if you are going to the park after breakfast.:) Time is money at Disney World.

Also, we drive all over the place down there and it really is easy. Just watch for the signs because when they say "turn", it means just about right then. There is not to much of a warning. :)

Your resort may give you a map of Disney property. If they don't, ask for one at the GF or any other resort you may go to. I find it helps to have a general idea of where I'm going, so I can watch for the signs and be in the correct lane before that sign pops up.

And please add me to the folks who wish all the best for you and your family, and hope you have a truly magical time! :wizard:

If I know I'm definately going to be driving somewhere, I try to go ahead and mapquest the directions, print and take with me. This might help some.
