Help, I broke the DVD burner.

I was crawling behind the computer to check the printer connection and I must of bumped the button that slides the tray out. Before I realized it I bumped it and knocked it off the track so it won't go back in. How do I fix it? Thanks,

It depends a lot on whether or not you heard a "crunch" when you bumped it. Lots of breakable plastic parts in computers these days.

You may be able to just snap it back on its track.

As Dan said, it might just snap back into the track. But if you have to get a new one, they're really dropping in price. Especially online. An NEC 3500 16x Double Layer Dual Format is only about $70 plus shipping.

I accidentally did something like this not too long ago myself I will tell you I was *not* able to get it back on track and even taking it out and removing a little of the covering to see if I could fix it, sure didn't help. At least they are coming way down in price (I got a pretty good one for about $130 a couple months back... and just a week before it was about $200) and they are easy to install. Good luck!

Oh and newegg is a great place to order from... that's one of the major places we get our stuff from
