Is it really going to cost us over $100 just for transportation to and from the hotel? Yikes!!!!!!! That wasn't in my budget. Any good ideas on how to get to the resort or which one is the best? TIA!

Have you checked Disney's Magical Express? It's free, and I thought it included all WDW resorts.

Unfortunately the Swan and Dolphin are not included in the Magical Express service. You can either take a shuttle or rent a car. There is a car rental right in the Dolphin so you would need to pay one day rental there, turn it in, then one day rental back.

Bummer. Is there any plans to expand DME to include the Swan and Dolphin?

As mentioned, DME is not offered (and I have heard nothing about plans to expand it...afterall, the S/D are not included in the DDP either) at the S/D. These are not Disney owned resorts.

I have used the Mears shuttle to get to the S/D from MCO. It takes a bit longer than DME does. If you have more than 3 in your group, it is going to be more cost effective to use a car service. Not to mention, nicer.

No...the Swan and Dolphin are not Disney resorts. They are on property, but are operated by Starwood resorts, not Disney. Disney would prefer to encourage guests to stay at their own resorts by offering transportation at no extra cost.

The OP, with 4 people, is probably best off using a car service.

Most likely, no matter which transportation service you use. You could check into a one-day car rental from Alamo or National - they have a dropoff at the Dolphin. Maybe you could get that in for under $100 (if you can find a discount that applies to a one-day rental). There is a parking charge at the Swolphin so you may want to drop the car off when you get there rather than park it overnight. You could also pick up a car at the Dolphin to return to the airport.
