Help... How do I cancel & rebook DING?

Hi Folks

A DING on SWA came up today on a flight I am booked at a lower rate.

Do I :

1. Cancel currently booked flight to get credit
2. Re-book new flight

Or Is there a different method to get the new rate?

I've only done this once before and it was 3 years ago, so I've completely forgotten what I did at that time.

Have 2 windows open on your computer and on one screen go to book the ding until you come to the payment part. At that point you cancel your original booking and then you can use the credit from the original flight to pay for the ding flight.

Don't cancel your original booking though until you know that you can get the ding fare.

I managed to get the DING fare and now have a small credit to use for a future trip

I had a couple of tense moments as my computer was being slow and then I entered my SWA membership number incorrectly, but finally I got the confirmation and have the same flight booked at a lower rate

I just rebooked our flight from Buffalo to Orlando & saved $311.00.

Every little bit helps.

Wondering what the ding rate was this time for Buffaol to Orlando??? Seem to be far and between these days!!!!

For me it wasn't a ding offer.

I just checked the site, inputted my date & there it was, $70 off each flight.

Flight to Orlando went from $179 to $109.

No change on the retrun flight, but I am happy with $300 in my pocket.

Sorry I don't think I answered your question...

I called southwest & they walked me through the rebooking. You need to talk to them to arrange the credit.

If you are rebooking the ame flight you will get cash back, if you are booking a different flight you will get a credit.

I would call Southwest & walk through it with them, but have the ding offer open when you do it.
