God this is getting a pain in the bum.

Right finally managed to get my flights but the hotel i wanted in the keys is only available with an ocean view which is more expensive so can anyone recommend any nice hotels in the keys that are on the beach that are good for scuba diving.

I planned on staying at the Cheaspeak hotel in Windley Key.

We stayed in the Cheeca Lodge back in November - fantastic hotel, although our room was a tad disappointing, but they're renovating at present.

They offer their own diving - we went snorkelling and we all loved it. Great pool, breakfast was expensive but the best choice for hot/cold buffets and there's loads of other restaurants around (including the Outback steakhouse where for the first time ever DH couldn't eat all his food . . . nor could any of us, but I'll save that for my trip reports which I really must do..!).

Kazzie stayed on Duck Key, can't remember the name of her hotel, think it may have been Hawks Key or something like that, but is nearby to Cheeca Lodge, so again lots of facilities nearby.

Good luck!

If you can't make the Keys, couldn't recommend Marco Island highly enough - stayed at the Hilton Resort and would go back tomorrow if holiday was available. SUPERB, only word for it. Right smack on beach, good pool, loads of watersports and diving available nearby. Only 2 hrs from the Keys, with travelling to Everglades .45 mins away. Sorry if you've already been there, but we really love Marco.

Let me know if you need any further info.

Cheers for the info.

Had a rethink may go for Fort Lauderdale as Windley key seemed to be pretty quiet for other stuff like shops, bars and resturants. Also Fort Lauderdale is only 89 miles from Key Largo so we could go there for the day or something.

Marco Islands was also another thought, cheers for the advice, will check that out now.

Loved the Everglades last time i was there so i wanted to go back and there seems to be a ton of stuff to do.

The hotel i like best does scuba diving to which is a total bonus. It is the Waterfront Inn Beach Retreat:

Looks the nicest one in virgins book but the cheapest.

what do you think.

I'd say go for it!! Looks really lovely. We have friends who live in West Palm Beach and we love that area. This year we're heading for two weeks in our friend's apartment on Fort Myers beach. We can only go first two weeks of August due to school/DH's work commitments, so although it will be roasting, we have every amenity we could ever need there. We love the gulf coast, probably spend more time there than Orlando:rolleyes:

I think the hotel in Fort Lauderdale looks as though it fits the bill perfectly for you:D

The hotel i think is cheap and cheerful (hopefully) we have upgraded, may go for the suite.

Never been to that part only driven through it. My geography is not all that totally being stupid but is Fort Lauderdale the Gulf coast and is it near where you are going.

Have you been to Fort Lauderdale?

:D Hi Tracy. Ft Lauderdale is on the East Coast - Atlantic. We've not stayed as such over there, only visited these friends in W Palm Beach - beautiful there. The Gulf Coast water is supposedly milder in the winter and calmer than the Atlantic, but not so's a novice would notice the difference:cool:

You'll have a great time:D :D
