I really don't know which to go for!!!

We are travelling with our two children (6&10) and my Mum and Dad, so will require two rooms.

Really like the idea of walking to and from the park rather than relying on shuttles/longer walks.

Is any of HNY/NPB/SL head and shoulders above another??

Would really like to hear anyones views (I'm terrible at making a decision!!)

Planning on 4d/5n during the last week of August.

Thanks :)

Hi :wave2:

I've only ever stayed at SL so can't comment on the others but if walking distance is an issue they really are all in very close proximity to each other, one hotel isn't going to make a massive saving on walking time. I loved SL - the pool is very themed which is good for the kids and it has recently been refurbished :thumbsup2

Like I say I haven't been to the other hotels to stay (have popped in to use bars and restaurants in both) in my opinion they never seemed *that* much nicer to warrant the extra money on them.

Hope that helps :)

We stayed in HNY twice and loved it. It's a great hotel. Not very disney themed. It has hot breakfast, SL and NBP don't. This time we're staying in SL and I'm very happy with it. NBP is the biggest hotel, haven't stayed there. I would stay in HNY but for a good price.

Never stayed in any of them (for obvious reasons :rotfl:) but I'd go for the SL.

Looks the nicest and it is the latest one to be refurbished.

NPB is too vast for me and it is going to be having a lot of work going on in it over the next couple of years.

HNY is a conference style hotel, very cold looking and not very Disney like imho, also needs work doing to it

:)

I would go with SL, the hotel has recently be refurbished, has a pool and is a short walk from the parks.

Stayed in both HNY and SL, love both. Would stay in SL to save money but would choose HNY If I got a good deal on price

I have stayed at all of them.
I love them all but my favourite is HNY (because of the hot breakfast, it's nearest the park (we always stay there when we go with my mum and dad), it's quite small and feels just a little bit posher). My kids fave is SL (because of the pool, theming and all the trees!). This Feb half term we are staying at NPB (my stisters fave - theming).
We booked through the French website and because its half term and its such a massive hotel, we booked an Admirals floor room. All 3 surprisingly came out about the same price. We chose NPB because my youngest hasnt ever stayed there and was desperate to.
Not sure that helps with your decision but I guess what I am saying is you will love it whichever you stay at. (But I would pick HNY -lol)

Have stayed in all but the Cheyenne (too cowboy for my girlie girls) and loved them all but my favourite by far is the hotel new york - my girls chose to return here for our last trip and our next trip! As others have posted it is not very Disney themed but it is still lovely - very spacious rooms, lovely common areas, great staff and breakfast is yum - you have hot and cold choices. There is a very well ordered meet and greet disney characters in the lobby each morning. We love it!

Sure that whatever hotel you pick you will have a fantastic time  Enjoy all the planning! :goodvibes

Have stayed in all three but only SL and NPC recently, we’re putting that right in May by returning to the HNY after about a 12 year gap. I absolutely love the SL and it is beautifully themed and newly refurbished. The basic layout and size of rooms is similar in the SL and NBC, it’s just the decor that changes. SL seems a lot less hectic and crowded in the public areas and the walk to the Village feels a little bit closer to me although of course the HNY is even nearer. The character meet area is also a lot less cramped than the one at the NBC.

If a hot breakfast is a deal breaker you can order one anyway at the SL or NBC from the CM who takes your breakfast pass for a small charge. DH has had this at the SL and it is good value at about €4 I think and was brought to him promptly at the table.

You'll have a great time at any of them I'm sure, after all it's Disney! :goodvibes

I would go for either SL or HNY. We love both. SLs rooms are fantastic, done to a great standard and feel so fresh but HNY just has something about it. Id go for whichever you like the look of best.

Thanks everyone for you replies. I think I am leaning towards SL as I like what I am reading :thumbsup2

I can upgrade to a Montana room for £42 or lakeside for £82 - are either of these worthwhile? I don't mind spending the money, but I do like to get value for money (as we all do)!!

Thanks again

I have stayed at all 3, previous to my stay at the New York, the Newport Bay Club was my favourite, I love the NPB, I think it's the most beautiful of the hotels and the theming and the colours are very appealing, we had an unforgettable stay there and in terms of customer service and extra Disney magic this was our most memorable trip. We had booked the Admiral's floor, had a free upgrade to lakeside rooms, son had lots of freebies for his birthday, we got upgraded to a VIP breakfast, which meant we had a private breakfast room and the whole stay was unfaultable.

I've had 2 less than perfect stays at Sequoia Lodge, but that was prior to the refurbishment and I'd be happy to try it a 3rd time, as most of my gripes came from the tatty rooms, although it is the only hotel where housekeeping has been almost non existant. I don't like the look of the Sequoia Lodge at all, I don't like the dark wood inside and think the building is ugly, I don't need the tall pine trees and bird song, I'm fortunate to be surrounded by them at home.
I've stayed in the main building and in a lodge, the lodge was my favourite, it was a shorter walk to reception and to the parks than our room in the main building.

The Hotel New York, never wanted to stay here then got the opportunity and yes it is a "cut above" the rest, the proximity to the park, we always walk regardless of which hotel we stay in, but being so close it was easy to pop back in the daytime. We did get upgraded to a lake view room here too :thumbsup2
There's something about the ambiance of HNY which makes it that bit posher, if that's what you want, I wouldn't say it's particularly child friendly in theming but then if you want child friendly you can't beat the Cheyenne (cowboys) or Santa Fe (Cars fans).
HNY has the best breakfast with a hot selection included, pastries and cakes as standard and the largest selection of yoghurts including low fat varieties. Hot breakfasts are available for a supplement at SL and NPB if you want them.
I'm not sure quite why but if I were given free choice of hotel, (someone else paying) then I would choose HNY out of the 3, think the neighbours being Cafe Mickey help swing the decision :lmao:

In my experience of walking distance it's HNY, followed by NPB and then the SL if you're staying in the main hotel, if you're staying in a lodge and can get Yellowstone, that one's just around the corner from HNY, you have to find the small path through the trees.

If you're likely to use the swimming pools I believe the SL has the best one, although I like the look of the outdoor NPB one, obviously just for Summer trips, but we have never found the time to use the pools.

I have the Cheyenne booked for our next trip, with the intention of changing hotel when a 40 or 50% deal comes out, HNY would probably be my first choice, but then the NPB as it's a summer trip and think the hotel has a summery feel, we did have a March trip booked which we had to postpone that was at SL because of it's wintery feel. My husband thinks I'm mad BTW for my reasonings on the hotel bookings.

Sorry if I've rambled but everyone has their favourites and I think it's a good idea to know why people like or dislike a hotel, if you have a bad experience it tarnishes your view a good one does the opposite. What I don't like and it happens a lot with the NPB is when people who haven't stayed there knock it, I know from previous discussions on here that the majority of DISers who've stayed there have loved it.

Don't pay too much heed of Trip Adviser, I sometimes wonder if I've stayed in the same hotel as the one's being reviewed on there, again I think people tend to use it to complain rather than praise - just my humble opinion. Wherever you stay for a first trip I'm sure you'll have a great time, on our first couple of trips I'd have stayed in a garden shed if it had meant a Disney trip. :goodvibes

Thank you everyone for your thoughts.

I have just booked two rooms at Sequoia Lodge for 4 nights commencing Monday 26th August. I can't wait !!!!
