Hey, guys,

You are the gurus of T-shirt designs and transfers...I've made 3 sets of shirts for my family and just washed a shirt because the T-shirt transfer instructions said to wash before wearing. I had some questions:
1. Do I really need to wash the T-shirts before wearing them?
2. After I washed one of the shirts, the design cracked terribly. It looks like a ratty old shirt now instead of the fresh new T-shirt I had made. How can I prevent this from happening?

Thanks!
Kristi

1. not everyone does; those that don't seem to get away with it
2. what brand transfer did you use? was it light or dark? did you put them all in the dryer at the same time? was it a commercial dryer or your own? was the dryer too hot?

(I washed all 70 of mine. I used HP dark & Avery light transfers. I had 2 or 3 Avery light transfers crack even though they were in the dryer with a few other tees that didn't crack. I used a commercial dryer and I'm thinking it had a "hot spot" in it which caused the cracking.)
