Help! Hair wrapped around necklace

DH doesn't buy many "fancy" gifts, but he did get me an eternity diamond pendant a few years ago and what I'm sure was an expensive chain. I don't know if it's my hair quality, but it pulls and pulls at my hair, and now I have quite a bit of hair "encasing" parts of the necklace. It's pretty fine, so I can't get even my needlepoint scissors into it. Is there any saving it, or do I have to go buy a new chain? If so, is there a kind that doesn't catch hair so easily? I'm just sick over it, good thing DH doesn't "notice" things like this.

Any chance that wetting that part of your hair - and maybe even rubbing on a dab of hair conditioner - might loosen it up so the hair will slide out?

As for the future - do you wear this necklace every day? If not, can you just wear your hair "up" when you have the necklace on?

That's a good idea C.Ann, I'll try the conditioner. Even when I have my hair up, the little tiny pieces get stuck in there. I think it's just my rotten snarly hair.

Take it to a jeweler that does repairs onsite. They'll be able to get the hair out without damaging the chain, and may be able to help you find a way to modify the chain at the back a little so it doesn't do that any more. I had a chain that did something like that, and they were able to put an equally expensive but different-shaped linked chain in place of the one that was there (but it sounds like my necklace was nowhere near as nice as yours -- no diamonds in mine! what a beautiful gift!)

I get that too because of my curly hair. I deal with it by holding the chain flat & straight on a paper plate with a tweezer while I gently slice through the hair with one of those safety edge straight edge razors then pull it away with the tweezers. It works for me, good luck

I have had this happen, I usually can get the hair off the necklace by using a pin (an opened safety pin) and kind of using the pin to pull it away from the chain.
