Help! GF Concierge or Poly?

Hi everyone, I have a honeymoon booked at the Poly this August. We were hoping to upgrade to concierge since we decided not to go with the DDDP. The Poly has club level rooms available, but not with our pin discount. But, the GF does have concierge rooms with our pin. DF is really into the theming of the Poly and I do think overall he would enjoy the Poly more -- it's more his style. Any reports on stays at the GF or even thoughts on what you would do?

PS: I can't really ask FI bc the honeymoon is a surprise (long story, but he thinks we are putting it off until next summer!)

I am not a huge fan of GF, but I think since it is you HM it would be better. A little fancier, less crazy kids running around. I also think that the cabanas are great if you and your FI want to hang out by the pool for the day.

If it was me I would do Poly because we do not like GF due to problems when we stayed in a honeymoon room. At $$$$$$$$$$$$ It wasn't a great trip & no one cared if we had problems and we did go to top. But when I got home I contacted Disney ex's it worked out but I refuse to stay there ever again. Go with your heart.

We just got back from the Poly and really enjoyed the concierge lounge. Keep in mind that the offerings will be asian/pacific island foods, like spring rolls, chicken satay, hummus, etc. The staff were excellent, and we had wine or beer and desserts each evening. I personally prefer the theming of the GF more - it reminds me of the Hotel Del in San Diego where we have had several wonderful vacations. The poly is too "cheesy Hawaii" for me, I just did not get into everyone saying "aloha" and "mahalo" to me when we are in Orlando, Florida. The Hawaii-themed lounge singers in the restaurants were also NMS. However, we had a beautiful view of the Castle, and the fireworks every night from our room!!! So, I think you will get excellent service at the Poly, so if the food and theme are your style, I say go for the Poly!

I've stayed at GF many, many times and a lot of those times were concierge/club or whatever you call it! It was very nice and we always love the GF! We also did YC but liked GF better, but this year are trying Poly so I can report back to you shortly b/c we leave Friday!! Right now I guess I'd say go with GF, but my advice may change!

I have stayed at both countless times! Any many different types of rooms at both as well.

It sounds like the hotel itself doesn't really matter to you all the much but it would to your guy so go with what you think he'd be happier with. Either way, you'll both be happy. Have fun and I wish the best for you both.

We have stayed RPC and loved it and are going back for Christmas. Having said that we are trying the Poly CL in May and are anxious to see how it compares. My vote for your anniversary would be CL since we enjoy the little perks that come with it.

We've stayed many times at both although tons more at the Polynesian. We've stayed club level multiple times too at both. Love them both.

But since you think he'd like the Polynesian more, I'd stick with that. If you want to save, use your pin on a gardenview there with or without the deluxe plan (that would be my choice given all you've said). If you want to splurge, do club level. But it's much more money than it's worth except in intangibles IMO.

If he'll love Poly more, then stay at Poly. If it helps, we're staying at Poly for our honeymoon in December too. Personally, DFI nor I care for the themeing of GF.

While I haven't stayed at either resort yet, (we're staying at the Poly in December for the first time) you mentioned not being able to get the Poly club level with your pin code. I had trouble with my pin getting the Poly with ddp & tickets. I spoke with a bunch of CM's & even the last one that was able to do it the price was high & didn't seem right. So I emailed Dreams Unlimited with my pin & they were able to use my pin with the Poly & get me everything I wanted for $700 cheaper than Disney. So just a thought if you haven't already maybe email dreams unlimited & see if they can help you to get you the Poly club level with your pin code.

I've done both. I had the HM suite (turret) at GF and stayed Poly Concierge. The concierge offerings at the Poly are top-notch. And so are the ones at the GF (main building). I would first find out if the food at the GF outer buildings are the same as the main building. If not, that would seriously deter my desire to stay there.

As far as services, I found both groups to be excellent. Never had trouble with any of the CMs.

Having said that, the Poly is my favorite of all the MK-area resorts. I love the theming and feel of the place. We liked to sit at the pool bar and just relax, looking across the water at the GF and MK. So much fun!

But since this is your honeymoon, and you do it only once (hopefully!), you may want to spring for the GF and go all out. On my HM I stayed next door to Kevin Bacon. Bumped into him at the breakfast table! Woooooot!

The food and drink in Sugar Loaf (lodge concierge) is the same as in Royal Palm Club (main building). Years ago, SL didn't serve alcohol or offer desserts but that has changed.
