Help! Getting rid of water moccasins!

Hey txaggiemomof3! I'm an Aggie, too. We do live in the Houston area, so if this trap thing doesn't work out, I'm going to call Clint the Snake Man for sure. Thanks for the link.

I feel faint......

Have you all banded together, with your stories, to trick us northerners??? None of this can be real, can it?????

Give me 4 feet of snow and the occasional coyote in the front yard anyday...:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I seriously think I will have nightmares tonight.

call the local zoo they should have someone they can "refer" you too like a local reptile guy/ rescue

We used to have them sunning on the crick bank in our back yard. My dad would start up the lawn tractor and roll right over them.

Guess you don't want to hear about when my dad went frog giggin' as a kid...everyone got a turn flipping the snakes out of the boat. Good times!:thumbsup2

And this is why I love the Community board!!! I'll take black bears in my yard any day or night over snakes...bigger than a bread box and can be seen.

I've checked under my feet, got goose bumps, and now I officially have the "willie's". Ick-Ick-Ick!!!!

To be spewing snakes-- that is like a nightmare for me!!!!! I'd have to kill it. Sorry- but I have full fledge anxiety attacks at the sight of snakes---so it wouldn't be sharing my property. Not w/ my knowledge anyhow.

The worst thing about water moccosans is their ability to hang from the trees when sunning themselves. We had a creek behind our house when we lived in Ga and sometimes in the middle of the summer you couldn't go back there because there would 5 or 6 of those things hanging from the trees. My brother loved to go down there in his boat..they would literally fall into your boat if you aren't careful.

Good Luck OP...spewing babies would be enough to give me a heart attack and kill me.

Yes, it's true. When I lived at UConn, my apartment was off-campus and in the woods. There was a nature trail that started right near my front door which led to a small waterfall that was part of a beautiful creek system. I loved going walking, but there was lots of foliage and I was concerned about snakes. I asked a local what I should be wary of when hiking and he looked at me like I was crazy. I explained about cotton-mouths, copperheads and rattlesnakes and he said there was nothing to worry about. He was right. I only encountered skunks once and that was it. I had to worry about ticks though.

The Snake-Hunt in Texas reminds me of Whacking Day on the Simpsons.....:lmao:
