My son left a red crayon in his pocket. It went through the washer & dryer. Does anyone know of any tricks to getting the red crayon out of our clothes?
Just bought Amodex spot remover at the grocery store to remove paint from my son's favorite shirt. On the box it says it is recommended by crayola. It did work on my son's shirt but i also used hair spray and alcohol. It was about $5 but is a thick cream formula. Best of Luck!
Soak in a tub or bucket of oxiclean and hot water for a few days..stir and run new water over it every now and then. My dd left a blue crayon in a pocket and it got all over my dh's polo. I soaked and it came out after about 2 or 3 days in the oxiclean. Make sure you clean your dryer to get leftover crayon out of there, too.
I don't remember the exact method but you can use a cycle of soaking and WD-40. We had this happen with a load of Sunday Morning clothes and a green crayon from Children's Church that got smuggled in. I googled it and found a post recommending alternating treating with the WD-40 and oxyclean. It worked and didn't hurt the clothes at all. I'm sure if you googled it, you would find it.
I just looked this up yesterday for the blue crayon on my duvet cover... Mine wasn't heat set though and it came out with just some Shout Ultra Gel with the scrubber tip.
Offers the explanation on how to use the WD 40, as recommended by Crayola.
There's also something where if you put it between paper towels, with a hot iron, to melt the wax onto the paper towel instead of the clothes. Worth a shot.
I googled this topic last year as my daughter left a purple crayon in her pocket and it ruined a few things...or so I thought! I remember they said to heavily treat everything with Oxi-Clean or any other similar stain lifter and then wash in cold using Tide Coldwater detergent. I tried it first with my regular detergent (Gain) and it did not work. Went out and bought the Tide Coldwater and it worked! Completely took the purple out of all of the clothes
No help with the clothes, but if the inside of your dryer is coated a magic eraser will take it right off.
DD somehow got several crayons in a load of laundry a few years ago. Unfortunately, it was an entire load of all my maternity clothes and I only had a few weeks left of my pregnancy. Almost all the items were completely covered with crayon.
