I've stayed 6 times at Contemporary, and my family has decided for Polynesian next year. I'm sad, because I love Contemporary so much, and Polynesian doesn't seem to "live up" to my standards. Polynesian veterans, help me get pumped for my trip, please. (It's not until 2009, but I can't stop thinking about it)

Hmmm, you've never stayed at the Polynesian yet it does not live up to your standards? What the heck does that mean?

Maybe you are not worthy to be a guest of the Polynesian:rotfl2:

Just kidding! Take a look at Sea Spray's most recent trip report and photos. Also look at the web site of "he who must not be named" on the DIS.

Have a great trip (2 years is a long time to fret over your accomodations!)

Well, every trip, we spend our last day looking around at the other monorail resorts, and after all the years of looking at Polynesian, my parents decided that our next trip is going to be at the Polynesian. I've been reading a lot about the resort too. It looks nice, but I'm just so used to everything about the Contemporary.

...who the hell is "he who must not be named" [/noob]

IMHO, the Poly is the epitome of a Disney hotel! I have stayed there many times, and each time, I love it more. The sounds of the island music, the torch-lit paths in the evening, the volcano pool, the friendly CM's, the view from the beach of the nightly electric parade on the water - everything at the Poly is first class. :thumbsup2

I'm actually staying at the Contemporary for the first time in April, and I'm hesitant about staying there because I'll miss the Poly! :rotfl:

I think I feel the same for Contemporary as you do about the Polynesian. I don't think it would "live up." I went there once for Chef Mickey's and I'll be just fine not ever going back. I know we all have our favorites, and the Polynesian is definitely mine so far. LOVE IT!!!

We stayed there a few years ago and we still talk about. I have never stayed at the CR, but I've been to Chef Mickey's. The Poly is definitely quieter and more laid back than the CR. The CR always reminds me a bustling metropolis. But I guess that's what it's supposed to remind you of.

You are going to love the Poly. I'm sure of it!:thumbsup2

Just got back from the Poly and it is hands down my favorite resort (and as you can see from my sig, I have stayed at just about all of them). It has location if you are a commando - style vacationer, but if you aren't it is even better. It is by far, the most relaxing resort I've stayed at in WDW.
Beautiful grounds, friendly CMs, great food, wonderful pools, large rooms... I could go on. I'm going to have a hard time staying anywhere else in the future.

Okay, now I'm curious. I know who you are talking about, but why can't I mention his name anymore? I'm glad I saw this because I was going to send someone to "his" website to research longhouses.

frtchr is right. Poly is what Disney is all about. Being transported to a time or place. Poly makes you feel like you are strolling the beaches of Fiji or walking a tropical garden in Hawaii. The evening is especially magical, with the music, tiki torches, warm paciffic breeze coming off the water.

To me, the CR always seemed cold and ordinary with little to no personality.
Poly, WL and AKL are warm, inviting and they really take you somewhere.

Aloha Cousin

He Who Must Not Be Named is a very nice guy who maintains an extensive web site devoted entirely to the Polynesian. Others may be brave enough to name him here but I've been slapped down by this board's moderator for telling another poster how to find the web site. Sorry! But if you do a web search for Disney's Polynesian....

If you think that the Contemporary is like staying in Tomorrowland, then the Polynesian will be like staying in Adventureland. Have a great stay!:goodvibes

tikiman 2001 is he who shall not be named. He has one of the best Polynesian sites. He has been banned from this website for some reason. If you have not seen his site, google it. It is pretty impressive.

The web site is considered "commercial" by the owners of the DIS and therefore a competitor of theirs. I have seen others mention the web site in their posts here, but I am not willing to risk more warnings and banishment.

Why would you get banned for mentioning the site? People mention Passporter, allears, and mousesavers daily.

I can see him getting banned for pimping his site, but not us for casually mentioning it. :(

Just a reminder that if we can't post something here we can always PM each other with the website information.
We do that a lot on another board i'm on.
