I am going to the world in 3-4 days and i've got a bad cold any help on how not to be still sick when i get to WDW

:headache:  :confused3

As a teacher I'm exposed to a LOT of "bugs" throughout the year, and several of us swear by echinacea. It's an herb that historically has been used by Native Americans to stay healthy. It's available at GNC and places like that, but at $12-$15 a bottle. I get mine at Wal-Mart for about $5. In fact, we're heading to WDW tomorrow (yay!), but DS was sick last week, and I started taking the echinacea as a preventative measure. I did get a bit of a head cold, but kept taking the herb and the symptoms were very mild and only lasted a day or two. Of course, it's always a good idea to check with your doctor before taking anything, even an "all-natural" herbal supplement.

Good luck - I hope you recover soon and have a wonderful trip!

P.S. Just noticed you're from Ireland - I hope that echinacea is available to you if you want to try it; otherwise, my commiserations and continued well wishes!

Zicam--it's a zinc spray and they have different forms of it. The one you spray (or swab) in your nose works best and, unlike zinc lozanges or the Zicam mouth spray, doesn't affect the taste of food. I swear by the stuff--it really works. Don't know if they have it where you are, though. If they have the lozanges but not the spray use those (warning--all food will taste bitter while you use the stuff). Echinachea is helpful also, but I consider it more of a preventative measure than a curative one.

Zinc lozenges with echinacea work wonders if you down those babies as soon as you feel a cold coming on. I take the max dosage which I think is 6 lozenges per day until I start feeling better.

I swear by them and I always kick my colds faster than anyone else in my family (or my office for that matter :D ).

Good luck!
