I really need some help with this, I want to stay at the Grand Californian in May (for 5 nights) and I am not sure what to do to save the most money. Do I buy an Annual Pass (AP) and use that discount to buy the room but the discounts are not out yet and I don’t know what the percentage off will be? Or do I use Costco travel and get a package or do I book on Disneyland.com and just get a room and buy the 3 day park hopper deal for $199? What has your experience been with these options?

We might go again within a year so the AP (I just need 2 Ap’s) might be good choice and if the discount on the hotel was 30% then the AP would be essentially be free with the reduced rate on the hotel room. Does this even make sense, lol

See how confused I am, ahhh I could really use some help. The hardest part of the decision is the unknown because I don’t know what the rates and the discounts will be for May and I don’t want to wait too long and miss out on even getting a room for the week before Memorial Day. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

What the DW has found that if you go twice within the calendar year the AP route is the way to go.

Especially when you factor in the added savings on purchases etc.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, I was thinking the same thing. But I just wonder how many AP holder have used the hotel discount and if anyone has ever used it for the month of May?

Thanks again :goodvibes

AP hotel discount fluxuate A LOT! One night it can be 30% and the next it's 10% just because they have more rooms booked the 2nd night. Also AP discounts aren't always better than the public discounts. Also, packages aren't all they're cracked up to be. You may find you get a better deal by booking a room only reservation and buying your tickets or APs separately. Just be aware of block out dates during your trip. Sometimes we get PHs then upgrade if there is a blockout day early in our trip.

Thank you, I really am seeing that the packages are not worth it!

I think at this point I might just stay at the Best Wester across the street for my May trip and get the AP's and just wait tell later this year to stay at a Disneyland property when there is more hotel rooms avalible and better discounts.

I am just so ready to book my trip and dont want to have to wait untill the month before to book the hotel stay and be really limited because all the other hotel rooms are booked...hope this works out the way I want and thanks again for the responce :)
