Ok, this might be a really stupid question but, I am new to gas grilling. I just bought a new gas grill and when I attached the LP tank and opened the valve, there was a slight rushing sound for like a second and then it stopped. According to the manual that came with the grill "If you hear a rushing sound, turn gas off immediately. There is a major leak at the connection." My question is, wouldn't this be a normal sound as the gas is released into the regulator? I found conflicting info online and I was hoping someone here could help me out. :confused3

put dish soap around the valve and turn the gas back on. if any bubbles form there is a leak.

You may hear a slight rush as the propane pressurizes in the line to the grill. Since it was brief and stopped, that's what it probably is. The soap test is a good idea just in case, though.
