Hello :goodvibes

We are planning our next trip to the Grand Californian with an Aulani stop both directions on our way home to Australia. Aulani is our home resort. I am considering purchasing points via Davids Rentals to secure Grand Cal at around the 11 month mark, hoping we might get one of those magical views of the California Adventure Park that I have seen. My question is, does booking at 11 months make any difference to the room view if I put in a request or do they really just allocate it on the day as to whats available then and there?

Since that DVC is so small, I wouldn't worry about view...just get a reservation at 11 month out. You wait too long, you may be disappointed to not even be able to stay there. a view is a request, just that, no guarantees regardless when and who books the reservation.

When you put in a request makes no difference in securing a room at any of the resorts.

So, as mentioned, because of the small resort, I'd get the home resort points for securing the room and not anything else.

Good luck!

While information is limited (just based on many posts related to VGC, and my own experiences), earliest reservations do seem to receive better room assignments. Check in as early as possible, to avoid having your villa "stolen" by a guest checking in before you. Villa are initially assigned several days in advance, but changes can be made at registration.

Good tip! I hope to arrive early during the day. Thank you all for the information :)
