Would anyone be willing to share some personal details of your upgrade wth me? Disney is telling my TA that standard is the only category I can have (I had booked Pool view at AKL). I see from posts that some people are saying they are getting Lagoon view or even concierge from their pool view or savannah view at AKL. Dis said they can do something more for me if they have concrete info about these upgrades. If you'd be willing, I need a reservation # for those of you who are getting the better upgrades.

You can e-mail me at cdavern@avaya.com

Thanks!
Connie

1) Yes, they do upgrade to several resorts and several views.
. . . GF, POly, SSR, OKW, BC/YC
. . . MK view, Water view, and even Club Floor (concierge)
2) Depends upon what you want and how you ask for it.

Well actually I think it depends a lot more on what is available. If you only want the Poly for instance, they will give you a comparable room to the one you had at AKL if one is available...the pool view rooms are mid range, slightly more expensive than standard view but significantly less expensive that savannah view standard rooms or deluxe savannah view rooms. so a pool view at AKL would roughly translate to woods view at WL, Garden view at Poly and GF and standard views at BW, BC and YC or garden room at CR...if however you would only consider moving to the Poly and the only thing available there for your dates was lagoon view they might upgrade you...if however they had garden view available they are not going to offer a resort upgrade AND a view upgrade... As far as I know no one except deluxe savannah rooms and concierge rooms from the AKL are being offered concierge level rooms at other deluxe resorts.

I too had a pool view at AKL reserved and was offered standard at BC/YC, BWI, garden view contemporary, garden view Poly, or Courtyard view WL. I chose courtyard WL. I have heard of others getting fantastic (what they call) upgrades, but I believe some of that is exaggerated. I spoke with 4 different CM's before making my decision and all of them said it had to be a lateral move, meaning price wise, not necessarily view wise. I had asked for CR tower or WL concierge and was told I could have that but would have to pay the difference, otherwise they would move me for free to WL courtyard or CR garden. It makes sense and I do feel like I got an upgrade because of pricing at WL is a bit more than what I was paying at AKL, but truly it is not an upgrade according to the 4 CMs I spoke with, they consider it a lateral move. I hope that helps alleviate any worries that you may have. Good luck with your move to another resort! I'm looking forward to the WL!!

We were booked in a concierge level room at AKL August 5 -7 and were moved to a Lagoon View Concierge Room at the Polynesian. This is our first trip to Disney and, IMO, things could not have worked out better for us. We were also able to move from the POP to POR for the same price when the late summer discounts were released by Disney (July 31 - August 5).

They called and offered me SSR. I was polite but firm in saying that SSR was not accpetable. I told her that since Disney can't fufill their oblisgation to me, the only way I would continue to go on this trip would be in a monorail resort. The next thing I know I was offered Poly Lagoon view. This is for the same price as my AKL standard room. I did not care about view. I would have even accepted a Contemporary garden wing room. Polynesian Lagoon view is what was offered.

I think that maybe a lot of it depends on the CM you speak with.

You are correct. Who you speak to has a major bearing on what is offered. I was originally moved to a BWI Concierge Room. I had ask for a monorail resort concierge room but was told nothing was available. I informed my wife of the change and she blow a gasket. I called back about a week later to see what may be available and guess what. A Lagoon View Concierge Room magically appeared.

Probably not just the CM you speak with, but the dates of your trip as well.

We had savannah view at AKL and we asked for the Polynesian or Yacht Club. We were offered Garden view at the Polynesian or standard at YC. We chose to go with the YC. I think it all depends on what is available for your dates.

Does it upset you that you had savannah view booked and got standard when others who had standard at AKL are offered Lagoon View? I'm sure it does have to do with availability but somehow I feel Disney should have compensated for the standard rooms being offered, maybe an all day fast pass or something?!!

I've been reading a lot of these posts. I think some of the first people moved got much better deals. When Disney realized how many people they were going to have to move, they tightened up the rules and got very stingy. Just my opinion!

I'm booked in a concierge standard room at AKL August 17 - 24, and I have NOT gotten a call. Did you get a call or did you call and request to move. It's my understanding that they are not moving concierge standard rooms.

Thanks in advance.
