Help from Dallas area DISers

Can anyone give me a good estimate of travel time from DFW to the McKinney Texas area? I'll be going Tuesday morning, and need to be in McKinney at 8:00.

I'm also visiting someplace near the airport the next day and didn't want to move hotels. Mapquest says it's 45 minutes to McKinney, but I know traffic makes things really variable out there, and I don't want to be late.

Ok wait..45 mins...

Traffic here is HORRIBLE!!! Give yourself 1 1/2- 2 hours. It could be 45mins or NOT!!! Who knows. They have so many accidents it is crazy.

I am 10 mins from DFW. It takes me 45mins to get to Frisco on a good day. Now I just moved here in April but I cannot see going from DFW to McKinney in 45 mins, no way.

Maybe the experts will chime in here????

Stop in Frisco for shopping.

Well, I'm certainly not the expert but I'll chime in here.

I usually travel that route 2-3 times a year. It takes me about an hour...and that's during medium to heavier traffic. Really heavy traffic could require more time. I'd plan on a little more time....just to be on the safe side.

ETA: It's been about 7 months since I've traveled this route. If there is new construction going on that I don't know about, this could slow down the process.

Traffic here is horrific I agree with The Mystery Machine -- allow yourself at least an hour to an hour and a half

You are taking 121 from the airport to McKinney, right???

That's the easiest way I think but 121 can be stop and go in places - depends upon the time of day your traveling but I'd do what the others say and give yourself at least an hour from the airport.

Whatever you do, DO NOT take highway 635 over to highway 75. That would most likely be a nightmare. I agree with dturner - definitely take 121 from the aiport up through Lewisville and on up to McKinney.

Oh, man! I told a friend of mine that I would go to Winstar that day!
I usually hang out on the cruise boards but, we LOVE everything Disney in our house.

I'm SOOO glad you posted this. Of course, that's the direction that Mapquest gave me, so I was going up 75. Now I'll take the alternate route.

And thanks for the invite to the meet, but I'm going to Amarillo Thur/Fri, then back home to Tampa Friday afternoon.
