My daughter (going to be 8) is having a Strawberry Shortcake birthday party. I am having a horrible time trying to figure out a Strawberry-related craft to do. I was going to have a strawberry shortcake tea party and have them make tea party hats, but i can't seem to find any straw hats that look like tea party hats. Anybody have any ideas?

I like your tea party idea, when my daughter was younger she had a strawberry shortcake party. I bought little hats at Target that came with the strawberry shortcake party supplies (they even smelled strawberry). I don't know if they sell them anymore. I think they came in a package of 8 and the were cardboard hats that looked like SS's hat.
You could do chocolate dipped strawberries or fruit tray with the bakers melted chocolate for fruit dipping. You can dip shortcake in the chocolate too.
OOPS...I just realized you were looking for a craft.
Let's see...maybe stamping a fabric bag with those chunky stamps (get a strawberry) and acrylic paint? You could use fabric pens to decorate it and a glue gun with jewels if you want a less messy idea. Kids like making beaded necklaces at that age too. One party my daughter decorated a purse that the mom got for each child at the dollar store. They jazzed them up with their decorations.

I don't know if this will help, but my aunt made the cutest Christmas ornaments using walnuts in the shell. She spray painted them red, sprinkled on black glitter (for "seeds"), and glued on a green felt "leaf" with a hanger. They made the most adorable "strawberries." You could spray paint the walnuts ahead of time and do the rest at the party.

My dd is having a Strawberry Shortcake party, too. She went with the Princess Strawberry Shortcake. I was going to get the foam tiara kits, and let everyone make a tiara, but there really is no time for crafts at her party.

But, here is a really good website, with a bunch of descriptions of SSC parties. Maybe you will find something here.

I know most Michaels stores carry hats in their fabric painting section. Most will be either baseball style caps or sailor/bucket type hats, but I'd think the sailor type would be adorable. Maybe get some fake flowers and fabric paints for them to have fun with...

Or Michaels also has doll/teddy bear sized straw hats, if you'd rather go in that direction.

Thanks everyone, I like the walnut ornament idea, but my daughter is allergic to walnuts!!! My SIL thought maybe we could have them make their own headbands. We did jewelry last year for her bday party craft. I also like the fabric bag idea. I hope I can find a strawberry stamp! Beca: I looked at that website and already got some ideas for games. Maybe I'll just skip the craft. I'm having a chocolate fountain to dip their strawberries in, maybe that could be their craft. lol.
