I'm thinking about moving to Boise/Eagle area. I have a 5yo who would be starting school. I've been looking at realtor.com at houses, and have a general idea of what I want. There are SO many houses available though, so I'm trying to narrow it down by area. Which elementary schools are good, what should I stay away from? Any other tips on what areas to try to stay within or what to avoid?

I want to be as close as possible to this location:
E. 38th
Boise, ID 83714

A nice neighborhood, close to major shopping, good schools all mandatory. A community center that provides nice parks, preferably a pool as well are great bonuses.

TIA!
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer! Just giving this a little tap to the top for ya! Hoping someone can give you some information. :)

Hi Jenifier
we live in Boise and love it. Different areas have different plusses an drawlbacks but Boise is beauithful. Theres a verse that says Just as mountains surround Jersusalem so God surrounds His people, saying this evey time i look out my windows i see the beauithful mountains they seem to surround Boise.

As to areas Eagle is more expensive at least for the most part.
Down town has wonderful oler homes and more of a ah you know lots of open air restaurants, etc 8th steet market place
We live in west Boise kinda close to the mall{BAD FOR TRAFFIC} were also a few streets off fairview. Our children go to private school or should i say DD whos 13 does the other 2 arent in school any longer. My DD whos 22 is having a house built off of cloverdale across from the cloverdale nursery beauithful views and reasonable prices. If you want I'll take some pictures and send them to you. I can also pick up a map at AAA and hightlight different school districts. In Boise i dont think i hear more of one public school really being better than another. Just remember although Boise is fairly safe i sugest saying off the green belt alone and NOT going on it at night. We also have a river festival in June which has great fireworks etc. I do know housing costs have droped recently because of the Micron lay offs lots of degreeded people leaving area for other jobs, in fact i was just talking to asst mgr of Albertsons and she got a steel on a place from a x micron person. Boise is friendly everyone talks i know more about the checkers at grocery stores than my friend from Pa does about her neibors. You can email me or let us know if we can help with pictures or maps etc.

HI! Im in Boise too

We live in West Boise but further West ( we were Meridian last year lol) My neighbour is putting her house on the market tomorrow you could be my neighbour :)

My ds goes to a local school ( Ill PM you the name) and we love it!! Its year round and wonderful! Hes been there 2 years and the teachers and prinicpal are all great. The Prinicpal makes a point of knowing each parents first names I have no idea how she does that!

Boise is great for the most part, very family oriented and we have a great Dis group here. ;)
There are a lot of " big city" things here for being a smaller city. We have a nice zoo, a good museum, and art museum too.

if you have any other questions Id be glad to help you! :)

we are also close to the West Ymca which is a great center! we go there almost every day!

BTW, This is Boise, everything is within 15 minutes of everything else ;) I wouldnt worry much about being close to anything youre close to everything unless you decide to move way out of town. There are strip malls everywhere. There is only one major mall though so that can be kind of a pain! Especially at Christmas!

I have been to Boise once, for the weekend, and it is beautiful! I'm planning another trip in June for house hunting. I want to stay fairly close to the area I mentioned, because it's where I'll be working etc. I'd like to have my daughter's school close by so I can leave and go get her. Right now in CA I commute an hour each way. YUCK. I'd like to get that down to 10 minutes LOL.

I kind of checked things out on the map, and everything does look really close.

Any tips on a realtor? I really need to be able to make one 2day trip and find a house.
