HELP for Newbie

I love this site!
1. How are the crowds in the park the last week in April? Easter is the 11th in 2004. I would like to avoid big crowds if possible.
2. Where can I get a detailed list of what each park has to offer and what character's appear at which meals and where each is located?
3. Does the search feature work on this site? I have tried it or the last three days with no luck.
4. Does it take you about 20-30secs to open and close a tread. This seems awfully slow to me. I only have an hour for lunch and look what time it is now.

Welcome to the DIS Stacy ! I agree with crisi on the sites for info. they're great ! Sometimes I have found that it takes a long time for the threads to open & close, other times it's fast-I'm not sure why.

Search is more "off" than on. I haven't been able to do a search on this board for MONTHS. I realize they do that for a reason- but it really just makes a TON more posts/threads on this board because we have to ask questions that a billion people have already asked- simply because we can't search for the answer without posting it again and waiting for replies.

Yes search is down at the present time.The boards have been slow especially in midafternoon this week.The higher powers of the DIS are trying out some new things and making adjustments so hopefully it all will be running smoothly quite soon...for ALL of us!!!

I've been to WDW the last week of April and it wasn't too bad.Better than the end of March when I believe the ENTIRE state of NY was there!! The first week of May is better though.Kids are in school pretty much all over the country at that time which keeps the crowds down.

Going the few weeks around Easter are usually great times to go. We have been during this time for three years now. The week before and the week after Easter are the worst. If Easter is on the 11th, I would stay away from the 1st to about the 20 th. After that the crowds should be pretty light.

Here's what I learned from WebmasterALex about search and the slowness of the boards.Thought I'd pass it on to y'all!

Search turns off automatically based on the "load" on the server. during the day it is off most of the time. It has to be because the boards would be unusable.
During the day, around lunch time we frequently have as many people on as the boards can handle...nothing we can do unless we buy a whole lot of very expensive equipment
