Hi,

Our family plans on going to WDW for the first time next June. When should we start making reservations? Is it best to use a travel agent, or book directly through the resort? Any other insight you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks!

MiMi

Hi, and welcome :wave2:

Here is what I did...checked with multiple agencies online to get quotes and one in person and priced it out myself.

In my case Dreams Unlimited (the one through this board) was the same price or better that the others and Rhonda from Dreams Unlimited was the most helpful.

It is nice to have an agent, at least if they are willing to answer millions of questions like Rhonda is :lovestruc and they keep an eye out for better deals.

In the meantime I would get the planning video from Disney and join their newsletters, as I hear it gets you on a mailing list that discounts are sometimes sent through.

I book thru Walt Disney World website.....had no problems at all....I even changed a few things a couple of times. They were all really great. :flower:

I would say now, because it is fun...and if you book with a travel agent or some place like Dreams Unlimited, they will watch for codes and apply them to your ressies if a better deal comes out. Can't go wrong! That way you won't miss a deal if one comes out and you aren't paying attention. Have fun!

Hi. Welcome!! Do you belong do AAA?? I just booked today for next April. I saved over $300.00 by booking thru AAA. For only $70.00 membership fee per year (which we used them twice already for auto problems) it has already paid the fee. Just an idea. Have fun planning!!! :cool1:

Hi! And welcome, I am new here too! Never hurts to book early. We have done all our trips that way. I start paying them off and by the time we actually get there, the only expense we have left if what we are spending on food and souveniers. This year I am actually thinking of doing the meal plan as it will cost us $105 per day for the three of us. We pretty much end-up spending close to that by eating one nice meal and snacks and this even includes the gratuity. It will be one more expense paid for and out of the way.

Good luck to you and most of all, have a most magical trip!

Hello Mimi!

Welcome to the most fun you're going to have before going to Walt Disney World - planning your trip!

I always recommend that newbies book through TA's. From them you can have all your questions answered without posting them here and getting 10 different conflicting answers (which annoys the pants off of me!!!) as well, a TA can help you find the best price for your vacation needs.
