My sister in law that we are taking to WDW for the first time has severe Crohns disease. She is limited to soups, and very light food. I have two questions that I'm hoping someone can help me answer!!

1. What counter service restaurants do you know of that have soup?

2. If we bring our own "soup at hand" is there access to a microwave anywhere in the parks? Would a CM help us with this? Anyone with this type of experience?

Thanks so much!

Call the Dining Reservations phone # at WDW and they will be able to help you. Just because it may not be listed in the menus on the net doesn't mean you can't get it at WDW. The only places I know I got soup is Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT; you can get Miso soup at Yakitori House in Japan at EPCOT also (miso soup is light and tasty,IMO), Cosmic Ray's in MK has soup, Pinocchio Village Haus has Minestrone but maybe she can't have that type of soup.
Which resort are you staying at??? Many of them have soup that you can get.

Don't forget if you're making ADR's to let them know what she can have/not have on her diet. They will surprise you. And your best bet will be, as I said before, to call the phone #.

I empathize. I, too, have Crohn's disease. I have never gone to the World when I was in a real active spell, however, I always have to be careful about what I eat. I have found that by checking the dining menus on allearsnet.com, and just plain asking for variations, and what I need, WDW is very accomodating. Probably the most of any place I have ever been to. I have been able to find something to eat at most buffets, and table service restaurants without any problem whatsoever. Counter Service can be somewhat trickier, but like I said, I haven't been there when I was only eating broth. I give her much credit for taking on the challenge!!

Also...I don't think you would have a problem asking CM at counter service to warm up soup for you...or even give you a cup of hot water.

If you are staying on property, all of the resorts have microwaves for guest use. If you are out in the parks however, you are much more limited. According to State Health laws, CMs are not allowed to microwave/reheat anything that hasn't been produced in the restaurant. I would definately get in touch with the individual restaurants two or three days before and speak to the Chef and they should be able to accomadate you without any problems!

Def check out the link Penny posted. It should tell you everything you need to know. Disney is very accomodating for those with food issues. Also look at the menu's posted on the same site and see which places might be a good choice and make a short list of those to take with you. Table service should be no problem at all - the counter service will take more planning.

I, too, have Crohns but thankfully food is not an ongoing food for me. In a state of severe flare, I just don't eat anything but that doesn't last long with the right combo of medication. I hope hers is in control before you leave so she can enjoy more of her vacation. That is never fun!
