I am going to MK with my two kids, ages 5 and 2.
Someone once told me that when you get in line on a ride, that a disney attendant will ride with your kid while you wait with your toddler. Is this true? I am taking the kids by myself, and boy would that make it easy to have my 5 year old enjoy the rides he likes without me worrying about him going on them by himself.
any help is appreciated.

I have never heard of this before?

Really there isn't much that I can think of that your 5 yr. old would want to ride that you couldn't go on with him with your toddler. That is the beauty of Disney World. Walt's dream was for a park where families could participate TOGETHER. Not kiddie rides where the parents just stood on the side and watched.

Unless your 5 yr. old is extrememly tall (and fearless!) you should be able to enjoy it all together. Your Toddler should enjoy all the sights and sounds as much as older brother!

You may just need to prepare your 5 yr. old for the fact that he might not be able to ride everything that he wants. There is enough for all of you to enjoy that it should work out fine.

Have fun!

Unfortunately this is not the case, a child must be 7 at Disney to ride alone. You may have heard about the 'child swap" but this involves two adults, one rides while one waits and then you switch without waiting the queue twice.

The good news is there are only about 4 rides at MK that your 5yo could ride that your 2yo will not be tall enough for. All others you can ride as a family of three. I have done MK many times as the solo adult with my two dd's and we had a great time.

The height restricted rides are Stitch and Barnstromer 35", Big Thunder Mt and Splash Mt 40" and Space Mtn is 44". There is a height calculater here on the DIS if your interested in other parks.

There is so much to do and see at MK that both can do with you I wouldn't even try for the three that your 2yo won't be tall enough for. Just enjoy all the rides and shows you can do as a family this time and have a great time!!

I agree hit the stuff you know they both can ride and dont swet the other stuff...I would be at the park before the opening and when the rope drops head straight to fantasyland.....then do the rest at your pace....get to Fantasyland early as most of those rides build long lines and load slow...If you are there early you should get a cuople of turns on a few of them
