HELP! Flash drive left in room at Poly

I'm at my wits end, so I'm reaching out to everyone on these boards to see if anyone has any suggestions. We recently stayed at the Poly (Tokelau building, room 2920) and left our flash drive plugged into the back of the TV. More than likely, with it being so small and being behind the TV, the flash drive is still there.

I've tried calling the hotel multiple times, which just transfers me to Guest Services, and I explain the situation. This results in me getting transferred to the Poly Lost and Found. The woman there is very nice and is trying to help, but she also doesn't seem to be familiar with what a flash drive is and how/where it can be plugged into a TV. I just want someone to check the room when it's next vacant and see if the flash drive is there, but with her not quite understanding what she's looking for, that is proving difficult.

I've tried calling Guest Services several more times and politely explained the situation and asked if there's someone perhaps at the Front Desk or anywhere else who is familiar with flash drives and where they would be plugged into TVs. The CMs always act like they'll transfer me to someone who can help, but then they just transfer me back to Lost and Found. I made it to Housekeeping once, only to have that CM immediately transfer me to Lost and Found. I'm about to give up and call it a loss but wanted to see if anyone had any magic phone numbers or other ideas for how to go about this.

Thanks in advance!

And this is the trouble with not being able to speak to anyone actually AT any of the WDW resorts. My advice would be to keep calling Guest Services. I know for a fact that they have the ability to get a hold of someone physically at the Poly. They do try to avoid this at all costs, but if you keep trying you should be able to get someone who will break protocol and get you in touch with someone who can help.

I did run into something like this in the past and it took more than 2 dozen attempts but was finally able to get a very understanding Guest Services CM to conference me on with the Housekeeping manager. That Manager was able to track down my niece's irreplaceable plush bunny left in a drawer in our room.

Thanks for the advice dansdad. I've made 7 calls so far with no luck...time to start on #8 I guess.

Does the number for faxing room requests go straight to the hotel?
Then you could have them call you so you could explain your situation?

A little out there, but a thought.

Why not call and tell them (not ask, TELL) to be connected to the front desk? I'm sure they could help you.

As a hotelier I have to say this is not as straight forward as checking for a flash drive and taking it. I have to be able to determine whose flash drive it is and I need something unique about it before I can take it and get it to the owner.

If the room has been rented I cannot just walk into the room when the current party isn't there, find a flash drive and take it. It could be their's for all I know (besides the fact that we respect your privacy and security while you are a guest). Then, if I ask the current party when they are there to look, find a flash drive and they then say it's their's what do I do without a unique identifier. And the third possibility is the new party found the flash drive and just took it. In this third scenario the chance of retrieving it are nearly zero.

So, it's not as easy as just looking for it. First, I would try to figure out anything that makes it unique. Second, contact the manager, you can insist on that, and work with them. Because of the issues noted above it will take that level to work on it and what they can do will be somewhat limited.

I know it's kind of rude, but have you tried calling the room? I would be willing to help someone out if I was in the room.
