Well, not my first time, but the first time with a Disability. We are planning a trip in Dec and my mom has a heart condition that will not allow her to walk a lot, nor take heat or any other strenuous activities. We are going in Dec to help with the heat and renting a ECV for the walking. What other things are there to know about someone with a disability at WDW, I want to make the trip as easy as possible for everyone in our party. Will she have to wait in line or go to the front? Can we go as well? I am just clueless as what to expect and I know the fine folks here on the DIS have all the answers. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

When wheelchair cheating became the cool thing to do they stopped the front of the line access for wheelchairs and made most of the lines accessible. If the line isn't accessible a CM will tell you where to go. It's a small world your entire party will go to the exit and you will board from there.

Welcome to disABILITIES.
Here's a link to the DIS page about toruring with disabilities, which includes a list of rides where ecv users can stay in their ecv for the entire attraction. As Michigan mentioned, for most rides, wheelchair or ecv users will be waiting in line with everyone else.
Because of your mom's heart condition, you will probably not be going to the rides with the longest lines. The ones with high demand and long lines tend to be the thrill rides. A lot of other things (especially shows) are very short waits.
Also, by using fastpass and by getting to the parks early you should be able to greatly minimize your waits. I've never been to WDW in early December, but I've heard the crowds tend to be pretty thin until about the week that includes Christmas. DH and I were at WDW in early July, which should have been busy, but by going early, we were able to see a lot in a short time.

I'm glad I read that. My mom now needs a wheelchair and she has a bunch of us able-bodied family members to push her. I would have felt guilty if we were sent to the front of the line.
