Hi! We are headed to WDW next January and need to make reservations pretty soon. Which resort would be best in regards to Disney transportation. It will be a trip for me, my hubby and DS1 who will be 6. We want somewhere that it wouldn't be unrealistic to head home for a nap midday. We are looking for value or moderate. Thanks!

You are going to get lots of varying opinions on this, but in general the only resorts that give you great access for breaks are deluxes that you can walk to. You'll need to take a bus from any park to get to any value or mod resort. We've had no problems getting back to the resort for a break at all the values (except AOA, haven't stayed there) and at all the moderates. I'd choose on whatever resort appeals to you the most.

The 4 parks are in all directions, so if you stay at the All Stars you are super close to AK. Stay at POR/POFQ and you are close to Epcot, etc., etc. Still, from any resort (value/moderate) to any park is about 15 min. Farthest park 20-25 min.

If you decide on Value, I would choose Pop. Has best food court, plus you can cross the lake bridge and visit AoA and their food court. Pop beds are doubles. My favorite resort is POR/POFQ. Wonderful, shady, laid back, plus the boat to DTD is priceless, and your DS would enjoy the horse and carriage on the main path in the evenings. Moderates also have pool slides. Live family entertainment Weds-Sat, and you can visit both food courts, just a 15 min stroll to the other resort (or take the boat). I believe POR/POFQ have queen beds, now.

We have stayed both moderate (CSR) and value (Pop). Personally, we preferred Pop. I felt their bus system was better. I haven't stayed at any of the other moderates or values, so I can't really comment, except to say that I believe the All Star resorts all share buses, so you run the risk of having to wait awhile to get on a bus. We didn't have that problem with Pop.

Another vote for Pop Century, great resort.

One plus is you are going in January and the crowds will not be that bad. I would look at the park and you will probably stay at the most. Then look at the resorts closer to it. All Star resorts buses take a long time to get to MK, EPCOT, and HS 15min + and they all share the same bus sooo even longer. (That's the only value I've stayed) Just recently got back from Coronado Springs and the bus ride to MK took about 15 + minutes but for the other resorts only 5-10minutes (once we got on a bus) It too has many bus stops. But this resort is the only moderate with queen beds ;). My favorite moderate is POR. only took about 5-10 minutes to each park except AK (longer). It too has a multiple bus stops but didn't seem as bad as CS.

Thank you all! Too many choices, but definitely seems like POFQ/POR or Pop!

POR orPOFQ are my fav mods. And pretty central. Larger rooms, and queen beds. Less chaotic then the value resorts too.
