We have 4 adults and 2 kids going in August. At the moment I am booked in a value resort with 2 rooms. Got to thinking about renting a condo for the trip it may be beneficial. Not sure where to start I have looked over some sites but any help here be appreciated. Trying to keep price under $600 or so for 6 nights. Would be nice to be within 15 min drive to Disney as most our vaca going to be there. Any suggestions on a nice place for that price or site suggestions I should check out?

You could try these three subdivisions: Windsor Hills: www.windsorhillsrent.com
Windsor Palms: http://www.windsor-palms-florida.net/
Emerald Island : www.StayAtEmeraldIsland.com

I know for WH you can put in a general inquiry for what you want and owners will reply. Try the townhouses too, they have a master bedroom and twin bedroom and washer/dryer upstairs and a queen bedroom downstairs with bathrooms for each, full kitchen, dining/living room and your own private splash pool. :thumbsup2
Oops, forgot they're all within 2 miles of Disney Animal Kingdom.

Thanks for links I am going through them atm. Question.... Saw http://www.floridasunshine.com/wpcondo/wpcondo.htm had the I think it was 554$ ish? Anyone had experience with this site before? How do the palms compare to the hills? Is this a good price or anyone notice hidden fees that I havent come accross yet? Any specific pros and cons going with an owner vs a site like that?

I haven't had any personal experience with them. I do know they have been in business for a long while and that they are listed on the Kissimmee/St.Cloud Visitor's Bureau site and BBB. I haven't read anything bad about them.
Windsor Hills is newer than Windsor Palms by about 3yrs. It has a bigger pool with waterslide, bigger playground but everything else is similar.
The only fees would be taxes and if you use a credit card there's a 3% extra charge.
We usually rent directly from owners. I like to know exactly what I'm getting as far as amenities go and you can usually get a better deal by going direct.
The first few times we went with a rental company was years ago and you didn't know what you were getting except that it had the number of bedrooms you wanted. You didn't even know where it would be. I think it's a little different now with some of the companies. Just don't go with Green Orange Villas or Gov Villas.
check out this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1800565
and look at the Trip Advisor threads that were mentioned.

Thanks again for the reply more helpful info. I wish I would of thought of doing this earlier I have been in planning and reading these boards for a good 3 to 4 months now and never rly knew such a thing existed like this to rent a condo. The 3 year difference isnt that big of deal to us tbh just would like a nice place to sleep we will be hitting the park everyday we are there cept for first day which would be nice to have that pool for my nephew to play in and the park is also a great thing. Ofcoarse for some reason I am the only one planning or excited about the trip so I am doing my best to make it most magical since its our first time our family been together in like probably 6 years and with 2 kids who havent rly experienced disney. On a tight budget with only me and mother forking in for the trip and thing I have noticed a lot about going straight to owner is the security deposit I have seen upwards of $400 which could buy a whole meal at disney. :) Everyone on boards been great so far and I will continue to research this prob till the day we leave in August so if anyone else has tips or sites to check it would be helpful!

The last 2 times I went to Kissimmee ... Last year a one bedroom cost me 200.00 for the week at Liki Tiki ... During Thanksgiving week... uncalled for...I now am staying at silverlake... 249.00 for the week through the vacation store... they are a great place... also cheap... or check out ebay...
I got some good deals there as well... or skyauction....

Do you have a link for the vacation store? I thought about ebay last night but for like 8 straight hours I never got around looking at it as I was looking at other links. I did check the skyauction site and only had 1 on it and I wasnt rly too sure how that site works if I would have to do a timeshare presentation or something. Going to read up more about the site today as it was about 11pm last night when I got around looking at it and got off work soon after. Today got 13 hours sitting at work to do more browsing of sites and find the best deal I can get. But if anyone has info on skyauction on how it works and how secure it is would save me some searching the web :)

Thanks again for help,
Jon

better off going to ebay....

Alot of the vacation store asks you to do a tour...

but some of them on ebay you dont do a tour... Even some of the vacation store....

look for the ones on travel... vacation rentals and then find the ones that are ending soon

Jonny Duck - Here's a link to the place we have rented for the first week in June. It's a 3bd/2ba condo in Kissimmee, not far from Disney (15 minute drive). We are paying $683 for 8 nights. This includes the tax. Others on the board have stayed here and gave it a thumbs up. Didn't know your exact dates in August. A few weeks are available when I just checked. This owner also has a 2Bd/2Ba unit available for a few weeks in August.

Good luck in your condo search. The member of this board are great at offering good suggestions!

skyauction is wonderful... it only takes a few minutes to register. Everytime you bid and win you need to factor in a $20 processing fee and then read the details towards the bottom really carefully. Usually will have a weekly or nightly tax and surcharge amount that you need to factor in along with your bid amount.

Thanks again for great advice... The site sympatico gave me lead me to http://www.orlando-rental-home.com/. Which looks like a great place and is open for our trip. Have done some searching and seen a few posts about how it is. The owner seems very nice and the accomidations seem perfect for our family. Anyone had experience with this condo or in EI in general? Previous posts I have seen on EI were mixed feelings toward it but mostly positive so I am pretty excited about it.
