I was just wondering if anyone might be able to help me sort out some cheap car hire?

I have just signed up for quidco so I can use that. Not really sure what the cheapest route is though.

The dates I'm looking for are 26th May to 12th June 6pm - 6pm. We're also flying into Tampa so needs to be from there. Also if we can, I would like to both be drivers as Hubby usually drives but I dont drink so I want to be able to drive some nights so he can have a drink :)

I'm going boss-eyed looking at car hire and its driving me nuts!

Thank you so much :D

Netflights including platinum upgrade (extra drivers & tank of gas) £343 less 5% quidco = £309.

Looks to be best I can see, will let you know if I see any better.

Just one thing with cashback, its not guarenteed, although there is usually no problem the odd transaction might not track or something else go wrong, 9 times out of 10 they can trace tthe problem and correct it but there is always a chance you won't get the money so if 2 deals are similar 1 with cashback and 1 without go for the one without

Thank you for the heads up re the cashback. I will bare that in mind.

I did a comparison online and found that i could get it through Expedia for £250 so would et some cashback on that, there was only 1 cheaper and that was only £3, might be worth risking the £3 with the hope of getting more through Quidco, what do you think?

Thank you for all the help you've given me, I do really appreciate it :)

Just had a look, £257? that is no additional driver or tank of gas. but yes 6.9% cashback.

Another option is the Alamo/Brits deal, you don't pay while you get there in $'s but fix the price in £'s now. Gives you additional driver free, £269 some have had success going thru Quidco and getting 10% off this also but others have been refused.

you're right that's a much better deal, didnt think about extra drivers and fuel! Think I will do that :) thank you!

Need more help with Car hire!

I've been trying to book the alamo brits deal but it wont let me pre pay, it will only let me pay locally but I dont want to do that as I want to pay on my credit card and if I pay with the CC over there they put a load of charges on there (bloomin' santander!). Is there a way of paying it in advance? Or if not, any other companies that aren't much more in price? Brits is showing as £275. I'm not so bothered about having the extra insurance but I need to be able to drive it as well as my hubby.

Thank you for all of your help!

usrentacar you pay a 50 deposit and then the rest before you go

Thats correct you have to pay on arrival with the Brit deal. Is it a Santander Zero card you have? if it is then there are no fees charged you get the full interbank rate($1.6281 just now) if its a different card then fees could be involved.
USrentacar have a similar deal with Budget on prepay, you get an additional driver included, your dates work out at £297 for an economy car.

You would probably be better taking a gold deal(includes 3 extra drivers and a tank of gas) with someone like AutoEurope they are charging £344.58 but then 8.5% Quidco bringing price down to £315.29, only £18 more than USrentacar but a tank of gas included worth more than your £18.

We have booked with a company called affordablecarhire we got a seven seater with all insurance and as many drivers as we needed , tank of fuel and for 18 days at £505 , we paid before we go and they even waviered the credit card fee . I got a quote on there site and then gave them a call to book as this is when I had the credit card fee removed , the hire car is with dollar hope this helps with your search

I tried them for our dates in August £433.68 for 14 nights 7 seater gold cover. Same with Autoeurope & 8.5% cashback £364, Never managed a good price thru Affordable.

Thank you so much, your help has been really appreciated! I cant believe this is my 10th trip and I'm still so clueless!! Will get on and book car hire in the next couple of days :)

Just want to add a point on autoeurope. Quidco works for some but definately does not agree with me .......... my last 3 transactions have either not tracked or been declined so I've not given up with it now.

When I got a quote through Quidco autoeurope was £25 more expensive than going direct to their site ........... so instead of getting £50 cashback it actually worked out as £25. Still a saving I might add but not if its me :confused3 ........... in the end I booked direct £461 for 18 nights 7 seater in July/August :lovestruc

Thankfully in the 5 years I have used Quidco I have only had 1 transaction declined, I guess you have a security setting interfering with the cookies it uses. AutoEurope sent me a link a few days ago not checked if it gives a better discount than direct if anyone prefers that to cashback its below, its not as good a discount as cashback but it incorperates a discount code. http://www.auto-europe.co.uk/carspl...&pucode=es&pucity=malaga&clicked_area=top_pic

You may be right Wayne ............. certainly not for want of trying ....... first Carhire3000 (declined because of Travelsupermarket??????), Weightwatchers (no track) and then the final straw autoeurope ........... so I've now given up all hope.

Booked direct with Autoeurope and that's it .... not changing anymore :wizard: unless you can magic up a price error between now and the end of July

Could I just check a couple of things please, Wayne, I went through your link, should there be a code to type in at the end as I couldn't see one?

Also we are looking at the Dodge Caliber Gold rate but it says up to 4 adults but only 1 large and 1 smaller case, there will be 3 of us with a case each, would they let us use this car when we get there without being conned into an upgrade?

And last, just to confirm, will be covered with adequate insurance as if we were booking it with a package hol?

TIA, Debs x

The link is supposed to auto discount.
I just checked our 2 week in August 7 seater van, gold cover.
Thru the link £380.99 which is supposed to be discounted but its same if you go direct without link. Maybe it depends on dates.
Quidco for same rental is 386.79 GBP less 8.5% which brings it down to £353.91. so well worth going thru Quidco (hopefully it will work for me)
How much is the next size up? If they suspect the car is not big enough they will try get you to upgrade. Every car rental company will try to sell you an upgrade, not just thru this offer. In Feb I booked a 7 seater full size SUV for 4 of us with 3 cases, they still tried to get me to upgrade:rotfl2: Just say no to everything they try.
Its an all inclusive cover, they could still try get you to add extras locally but again you have to say no if you don't want them, upgrades and extras are how they make a living.

Was just booking my car hire through Quidco and Netflights and was about to press the confirm button to pay when the phone went. It was netflights saying that they had had several problems today with bookings and advised I did it over the phone. I asked the representative if I would still get the 5% cashback through quidco booking it on the phone and he said it should still go through.
Even if it doesn't - I trawelled through a load of websites and Netflights came out the cheapest by £14 compared to usrentacar which was the next cheapest for a 7 seater minivan from LAX, 30th July to 13th August 2011. :thumbsup2
