Help! Exact Distance from BCV to IG?

We used CARE medical supply for an ECV and it was about $200 a week a couple years ago. They deliver and pick up right to the resort, so it was very convenient. I don't think she would be able to walk around Epcot or any other park if just getting to the entrance is an issue.

My Mom rents a scooter now too, every trip. She loves that we have to chase HER now! If you want to rent one from Disney just for certain days, they are available for $40 per day plus refundable deposit. They will have them at the IG entrance. Mom likes to get one for the whole week (from the Orlando companies mentioned above) and these are nicer, they go faster and are in better shape.

IT BEARS REPEATING - YOU GAIN NOTHING by going to the boat in terms of reducing the walking...you INCREASE the amount of walking by taking the boat...

ALSO what time of day are you going...if it is before 11 am when you get inside the IG you still are a LOOOOOONG way from any attraction which is open....

A LOOOOONG way...if it is the morning consider driving to the EPCOT main lot, ride the tram and enter thru the front....then you can walk out the back to the BCV and go back for your car later without your mom....this will minimize the amount of walking if she does not have to walk back to the car...or to and from the hotel....
Have to agree that if you are at BC you should never take the boat to Epcot. The walk is just as long, and it goes to BW first so it takes longer as well.

I'd disagree about taking a car though. Lets say you want to ride Soaring(closest E-ticket). Looking at the overhead map I have of WDW, the walk to the car(or valet), combined with the walk to the tram, combined with the walk to the front entrance and then to the land to ride Soaring is going to be about the same as the walk to Soaring through the international gate, but will take a car drive & tram ride longer(15 minutes). Just do the walk through England, Canada, and then to the land for Soaring.

Thanks for these posts, guys! It will be our first time in BCV and you just saved us probably from too much walking and TIME as well...

Sorry Sarhenty, but all this advice means you know have the responsibility of precisley measuring the various pathways in terms of distance, time and steps taken. You must present your findings to this DIS board within a week of returning! We also expect you to duly note the time of day, weather conditions and a fair estimation of the number of others using said pathways. Please note that visuals will greatly aid your report.

Good luck! :earboy2:

Driving is only a good plan if your relative has a handicapped placard. My Mom has one and we use it when we transport her. My hubby will drive her right up to the curb and then park in HC. At the end of the day he walks ahead and tries to pick her up. The lots at WDW are so big that even the HC spots can seem miles away... You don't realize this until you travel with a relative who gets tired!

Inspired by Caskbill and his wonderful work with GPS at WDW...

I pulled up a more recent satellite map of the epcot resort area and did a measurement as well. This is if you take the path from the center lobby in the BCV to the ticket gate in IG via the path the runs along the back of the beach club inn buildings:

So it looks like 3/10 of a mile. Caskbill's previous pic underestimated how far back from the path the new BCV buildings really are.

Perfect! I printed it out and it's in the mail to Dudley now. Thanks!

I think cjb-nc just beat me to it!!!

cjb-nc, nicely done!

It's from the public Microsoft Terraserver database, by way of a Windows program called USAPhotoMaps. Google should find it. The program is designed for GPS users, so it may have a bit of a learning curve. But, it's nice for doing those sorts of measurements.

Unfortunately the high-res color images for Orlando end just below the segment that I posted above. So the BWV is cut off and MGM is not available. Ah well.

CJB-NC and Simbas_Mom - note on the GPS map that if you cut through the BC hallways (air conditioned walking) through the pool area, you come out at the walking path cut-through that goes "under" the slight incline of the overpass walking path. This eliminates the worry of having to walk inclined paths, plus there's some shade from the walking path above. My mother is 77, and the resort's proximity to Epcot is one of the reasons we own at BCV.

I'd probably also recommend the rent-a-electriccart, if that's within your means.

Does anyone know the exact distance in mileage/feet from the BCV to the IG entrance to Epcot?

According to DH, exactly 3/4 of his beer. :teeth: He was never able to finish his before we headed into the park for dinner.

Ou guide told us that there was an entrance to Epcot from BWV & BCV but it was "quite the hike" - now DIL just get back and tells us it's the greatest location because you can just walk right into Epcot ! Guess I should have checked it out ourselves before we added on at SSR instead of taking those BWV points! :rockband:
I think we got played......
