Outside of mathematics, not that I really know of. Most all the science I'm familiar with, and the way they try to teach us to do it is to figure out 2 alternative reasons (A and B) that can explain what you observe, and then figure out an experiment to rule out one of them. But that doesn't mean the remaining theory is "true", but rather just "consistent."auntpolly said:Yeah, but there's a formula, isn't there, for scientifically "proving" a theory? (It's been awhile since I've thought about this; forgive me if I'm off)
But, that will never be helpful for evolution vs. creation theory. All available data in biology is *consistent* with the theory of evolution. But, anyone can also say that an all powerful being placed all the data on this planet to be consistent with evolution, and yet did create the world (and all the signs of evolution) in 6 days. And there is nothing in science that can "disprove" that.
(I'm a biologist, and not religious. I try to keep an open mind, but still think that religious beliefs and faith should be kept in the church.)
