I need your advice... my fiance and I are going to WDW for our honeymoon this November 9th-14th. We already have the DoubleTree booked near downtown Disney but I;m wondering if we should splurge and stay at a Disney property. So let me take you through the pros and cons Im facing.

DoubeTree:
Pros- cheap & I mean cheap, I'm a Hilton employee so I'm getting the entire 5 night stay for $200
free breakfast vouchers
by that time they will have newly renovated rooms
Park shuttles
all suites, even though it's just the two of us
Cons- No airport shuttle, and we're not renting a car...facing a $50 cab ride?
a bit far from the parks and it's been reviewed that the shuttle takes 30 mins to get to parks
although it comes with a breakfast we plan on trying some of the recommended spots at the parks and D resorts

Disney Resort...leaning towards caribbean beach resort
Pros- shuttle from airport to the hotel
staying near the parks with direct shuttle service
staying in the "disney" theme...we are getting married at Disneyland and after WDW we're going on the Disney Cruise
having merch sent staight to the hotel
Cons-The price omg the price, for the entire 5 nights we're looking at a $1000 for the Caribbean Beach Resort
The rooms look a bit dated but to be honest we'll only be in them to sleep

really looking at both I know which option looks better but I really would like your opinon for we have never been to WDW.

I am gonna say stay on property plus it sounds like everything else your doing is Disney, so it goes along with your plan lol

Another vote for staying on property! Plus you can always count on some type of a Disney discount on your room. One othe suggestion is that we have stayed at CBR and CSR and in my opinion if it were two adults and a honeymoon I would go with CSR. I think their decor is so much better! Plus there is a adult bar (after a certain hour), better food court, love the pool (not as kiddie themed) - all my opinion. Good luck! This is your honeymoon - enjoy it!

I vote the doubletree I don't like the CBR it is too spread out. The busses at the doubletree are very good and you can walk to DTD or nearby shopping.

The price you got is fantastic. Use that extra $800 for dining

Care to share more about how you obtained breakfast vouchers to a fellow Hilton employee ( insert secret hand shake here!) who is staying at said doubletree in June?

Thanks in advance!

you are starting your married life - not a time to spend unnecessary money - so would go for Doubletree

now if you are both wealth and your know you have good jobs and will kept them - then go for Disney

that say do not like CBR either - really like Pop (value) better - now POFQ would pick Disney. (if your budget allows it)

Husband is a hilton employee and we have stayed at doubletree and LOVED it - its sold out for employee rate when we are going...sigh. CBR is really spread out - Riverside and Port Orleans are more romantic if you go that route.

I say keep Doubletree. We stayed there one night Pre wdw package and the rooms are very spacious, and nice. We had free breakfast ( continental) with our discounted room from Mousesavers.com.
I was very impressed with Doubletree.
They have good scheduled park transportation that runs every 30 min. You won't need a car. True you won't have parcel service, but you can have your parcel sent to the front of the park for pick up so you don't have to carry purchases around all day.

Do you get the employee discount for the Hilton in DTD too? That hotel gives you extra magic hours.

Save your $. The extra savings will buy a lot of meals. Enjoy your free breakfast. I wouldn't be bothered to try to get to the Disney resorts for breakfasts. Very Time consuming. And pricy too, ESP when you can eat for free. Also a very early start when you are planning to spend all day at the parks.

@ciachef94 I met an employee that was checking into my property. If I find any secrets I'll let you know

Thank you for all the advice, I think we'll stick with the DT if not maybe I'll look into the Hilton.

We stayed at Coronado Springs last August for our honeymoon and loved it there. We are staying there again in June.
