Help Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom touring plan (Trip completed post 24)

Yes but I'm thinking they were some kind of boats that you "drove" but were really on tracks. And the Zephyr still lives!

The water scooters were gas powered boats on a track. They were right next to the Zephyr, and, thankfully, are long gone. There were also swan boats that were paddle boats. They were removed in 2011, I think.

I forgot to mention, lots of people bring their lunch in a cooler and leave it in the car. When they're hungry they get their hand stamped so they can get back in to the park, then they go to their cars and eat (may even bring camp chairs to sit on because your car will be like an oven). Just a way to save some money and avoid paying for not-so-good food.

They do check your backpacks and usually tell you there is no food allowed in the gate.

Well we went to Dorney park yesterday (Saturday) and it went really well. We arrived right at listed park opening. We found a spot to park under a shaded tree and walked to the front gate. Bag check went quick and we were in the park a little after 10:00am. I was surprised that there was already a good amount of people in the park already. Guessing they had an early entry for season pass holders.:confused3 We headed right to Steel force since it was recommended here. We walked right on with no line and got the back seat. You all are right that is the smoothest ride I have done even better then Nitro at six flags great adventure. After steel force we did thunder hawk, Dominator, and then the whip. We grabbed some Dippin Dots as we walked to do thunder creek mountain but when we got there they had a sign saying it was closed. So we went in search of lunch. We found there are alot of dead ends in this park cause there aren't clear signs telling you what is where. Finally we ended up at Chickie and Pete's. DH and I split the cheesesteak and the bucket of fries. It was pretty good and it was nice to sit in the air conditioning. After lunch I made a restroom stop in the resturant and had a long wait as there was family using the restroom stalls as a changing room and they couldn't decide what they looked better in to do the Waterpark. come on people they have changing room use those not a resturants restroom. Next DH and I went on the ferriswheel. I feel for the people woking there. They have the worst prerecorded speil I ever heard. It is sung and is just horrible. Was happy when we were off the ride and didnt have to listen to it anymore. Next we went to check out the games in the park and I was disappointed in the offering. The arcade there was really small and didnt offer much in entertaining things to play. We went to the boardwalk games and waited a while for some people to come play the whack a mole game (my favorite game) so I could win a bigger prize. Ended up winning a smurf doll. After that we took a walk thru wild water kingdom and decided it wasn't for us. We have been spoiled by Disney's waterparks. :goodvibes We ended up leaving the park for the day at around 1:30pm. We didn't have any waits for the ride we wanted and the park started to really fill up so we called it since we did what we wanted. I will say that tho we did have an ok experience we will not be back as the park was too small and doesn't offer alot to keep us interested in staying long. But it was nice to go back since it had been 20yrs since I was last there. It looked nothing like I remembered as a young kid. :goodvibes

Oh I wanted to add I was surprised they didn't offer any shows during the day other then the Charlie Brown one for the kids. The earliest show adults and teens may be interested in didn't start performing until 5:00 that evening and this was a Saturday. :confused3 The shows guide we got states other shows dont start until June 29th. Hope they are earlier then 5pm shows.

I'm glad to hear that you had a decent time. No, DP is so not what it was 20 years ago. I don't understand how it can get so busy with what they charge for what they have to offer. :confused3 Maybe I'm just too spoiled by Disney? :scratchin
