This is our first trip. I have been reading the DIS for weeks now. Looking at the date we leave in 8 wks. I do not have a clue as where to eat or whether or not I need to make ressies! Is it to late to make them? And do I need to make them? We are planning to eat breakfast in our room most days and eat in the parks for lunch. We have hopper passes so we can leave at any time. I just do not know what to do. :rolleyes2

Yes you need to make ADRs since it will be summer (which means it will be crowded). I made our ADRs for our June trip about 2 days ago and got all of the restaurants and the exact times that I wanted. However, I only made 3 ADRs so it was easier to get the restaurants and times I wanted. So no it's not too late to make them.

Its not too late to makie ressies! I would try to make some character ones if you have want, so you don't have to wait in lines in the parks to meet charaters. Here is the phone number in case you don't already have it 1-407-wdw-dine, they will be happy to make suggestions and answer any questions you have. My fav restaurant is Boma, in the animal kingdom lodge. You should try it if you have time. :)
Have a great vacation.

Absolutely positively!! With so many people on the DDP, the restaurants will fill up. I just made a ressie for Ohana for June 3, and they only had 2 times left!

If you're happy eating counter service meals, then you'll be find. If you have your heart set on eating a particular place, you must made your ADRs before arriving. There is always a chance you might be able to get in to some of the less popular places, or some restraurants at the resorts (not the popular ones like WCC or O'Hana's). You can check out the menus on wdwig.com under dining and see if anything appeals to you. Are you staying onsite? Are you on the dining plan? Those are 2 important questions, because if you are on the dining plan, if would be terrible if you could not use your TS credits because you can't get into any of the restraurants.

Last June we saw many people turned away from restaurants without dining reservations. Check out all the WDW menus on allearsnet.com and see what you like. Be flexible with your time as you are pretty late making ADR's. Just make sure you have some kind of theme park plan and set up your dining around that plan. For example, you don't want to be in the MK and have a dinner reservation at the 50's Prime Time at the Studios. Too much running around. Plan your meals either in the park you will be in or the nearest Disney resort to minminize travelling time.

ps...toll free for WDW is 1-800-828-0228

You should definately make reservations for June if yu want to get a table anywhere. What I did the first time was to go to the menus and decide which rest I wanted to eat at and then I decided which parks I wanted to go to on which days by looking at hours of operation and EMH and then linked my rest choices with my park choices, and the resorts rest with whatever park was near them and then made my ADR's
There is a 1 800 number 1 800 828 0228 you can use to make dining res as well.

Any questions fell free to PM me. happy planning :thumbsup2

I made mine a few weeks ago for July and was able to get what I wanted within a few minutes of my preferred times. But do NOT wait any longer. Last time we went, I waited too long and tried calling 30 days in advance and had trouble at a few places (Chef Mickey's in particular). The previous posters are right: look at the menus at allears, try to figure out where you'll be on each day, and then choose a restaurant easily accessible to that park. You can always change or cancel an ADR if you change your mind later.

Definatly make ADR's and as soon as possible. We are going in June and got everything we wanted, but I made them about a month ago. We make ADR's for those days that we will not be in the parks, I would suggest doing the same if you will be on property the whole time. It makes it so much easier when you do not have to worry about where to eat or waiting for a table. I would also suggest doing the Fantasmic! Dinner Package if you are going to MGM and staying for Fantasmic! at night. We eat at Hollywood & Vine. It's a good buffet that has something for everyone. This gets you dinner and special passes to sit in a section reserved for people with the dinner package. It ensures that you will get a seat and not have to wait. The rest of the time we are at the parks we eat counter service to save time. I hope this helps. If you want any suggestions as to what restaurants to eat at I would love to help! :thumbsup2

Actually Goofybec said what I was going to say. If you post asking for any help, there are so many here who love to help you make the restaurant picks. But don't wait too long. Others here have way more experience than me -- but I like to eat - so just tell us who is in your party, where you are staying, and what food you like to eat if you need any help! You definately don't want to eat counter meals only!!!

I just made our ressie for Ohana today. We are dining on June 7th- short notice- but no problem. Also got 1900 Park Fare today. Good luck.

 It will be myself, DH and DS's 12 & 6. My DS's Bdays are June 13 and 28. We will be at WDW from June 9 - 16th. Knowing my DH we will be eating mostly cs meals for lunch and poptarts or muffins for breakfast. I want to do a nice meal for each DS's bday, where I plan to let them pick the place they want to eat. Both of my boys eat anything. My oldest does not like chinese but will eat it if we that is the pick of his little brother. (He will pick it just to make his older brother upset) I will just not give them that option.
We are planning to go to MGM to see the star wars on Sat. and maybe Epcot & AK on Sunday.? I have not really planned the rest of the trip because being our first time I do not have a clue as to what to plan. I purchased the Unoffical Guide this weekend but it just confused me reading it for I did not understand alot of what he was talking about.

It's not too late...today I just canceled my H&V ADR for Friday May 19th & made an ADR for BOMA that night instead....and I had my choice of any times I wanted.

I would suggest the Stitch Breakfast at the POLY, if possible do it on one of the birthdays and let them know it is and it should be a good time.

The 50's Prime Time (MGM) might be fun with your DS's, I think they would get a kick out of Dad getting scolded for wearing his hat or putting his elbows on the table or something

At Epcot there are so many places to eat, that should be easy or hard if you can't decide because so many look good  That's our problem.

I won't pile on, I know many others will have some great suggestions too. Take your time and look at your Unofficial Guide restaurant section and then if you have questions, jsut come back here and ask. :) Everyone here loves to help! :thumbsup2

Good Luck,

Coach YO
