We are coming down to WDW next month for a friends wedding that is about 2 hours from WDW property. Originally we were going to use DME and maybe try to carpool with some friends. But then I started to worry about inconveniencing others, etc. So my DH came up with the idea of renting a car from Dolphin and it will be about $30.00 for the 24 hours. No problem!!

Okay now here is my worries...

DME - we arrive at 10:30pm on Wednesday, November 30th. How long before our luggage would arrive at our resort that time of night? Our flight leaves WDW at 11:50 so we would have to leave our resort at 8:30ish?? And then we would just be renting the car for the day.

Alamo - We have been using National the past few trips and it has been great. Prior to used Dollar and again, no problems. We used to use Alamo when the were offsite and it was a nightmare. If we decided to rent the car for the entire stay, I have a rate of $169 (keep in mind the late arrival, early return) is that a decent rate (using my AP and a $15.00 coupon). How is the counter lines at Alamo that late at night? I also see that Alamo has online check in, so I am guessing that is like National with the Emerald Reserve but it said you CAN'T do online check in if you are using a coupon, so I guess that leaves us out? :guilty:

We have always had a rental car while at WDW, we love to travel between resorts and if we are not staying at Boardwalk usually drive to MGM and Epcot and always drive to AK no matter what. So not having one, we feel all out of sorts.

Okay....so what would ya'll suggest?? Thanks so much! :)

At this time of night they are currently telling people they will have to retrieve their own luggage and take it on the bus with them.

Scheduled departures are 3 hours before your flight time. Our experience is that you will need that much time.

As for the rental car, part of the joy of vacationing at disney is that I don't have to drive while I"m there. Yes the busses can be crowded, yes you occasionally have to wait but we make the best of it and enjoy not driving.
