Help; DLP January or March?

We are planning our first trip to DLP and were wondering what it is really like there in January? Crowds, weather, rates? We may also go in March/April. I was wondering the same thing about that time of year. Thanks for your help.

After the first few days, January will be quiet and COLD!! March should be similar, maybe a little busier and hopefully the weather should be warmer, though it can vary tremendously. Not very helpful - sorry!!

Check out the School Holidays thread that NIK posted today - which should give you an idea of when it will get busy. Also bear in mind that the parks are a lot busier at the weekend, even in the "slow" months.

To make up for the cold weather, rates are at their lowest in January.

Isn't there also a period in the early months of the year where you get Unlimited Magic and go on rides as many times as you like without getting off, should you want to?

There may be a bonus for some people, I know I'd take advantage of that with Pirates of the Caribbean

We've been in February and march before - but not in January, so can't comment there!

Anyway, we still loved DLRP in February, but it was so cold we said never at that time of year again!!!! But we have kids - are you travelling with kids?

In March 2003, we had fantastic weather [like a nice summer's day in shetland ....16-18 c],but we missed quite a few of the rides,like autopia, casey jones, the fairytale boat one etc

So it might be worth checking whats open in Jan and March, which shows are on when and then deciding!!

According to this site, Magic Unlimited will be from 9th Jan to 3rd Feb. It also gives you a guide to which attractions are included, though currently it is based on what was done January this year.

If it's cold outside, I would be quite happy just going round and round on Pirates and Phantom Manor!!

I would go in January as I think it will be much less busy and if I were you I would take advantage of Magic Unlimited. I think you can get 4 for 3 and 3 for 2 in addition to kids go for free deals. I don't think March will be that much warmer than Jan. My sister went last year in March and it was below zero the whole time plus it was quite busy.

we went January this year and it was quality.No crowds really at all,magic unlimited is a really really great idea,45 minutes going round on POTC was great!its an bit unorganised on the Rock 'n' Roll rollercoaster and might be a bit of a problem for people who would feel uncomfortable having to sort of,make sure nobody pushes in front of you by sort of blocking people from being able to do that,because it works differently to the other rides in that you have to get off and then get back on in a seperate queue line,so there are 2 lines both trying to get on the ride at the same time and it doesnt always work brilliantly.It was absolutely freezing though,and i love the cold so when im cold you know its freezing!going on indiana Jones when it was snowing was an experience! They have special ''all you can eat'' buffet offers in more of the restaraunts as well,which are good value. Booking the holiday is really cheap as well compared to other times in the year.Ive never been in march,i imagine it would be a bit busier and a bit warmer,and is of course without magic unlimited.id really recommend it,ive been in January,March,July(although it was when i was 9 years old back in 1993!) and October and i really think January was the best by far.not having to queue for anything made the whole experience so much better for me.

I suppose the question to ask yourself is,would being quite cold sometimes ruin your holiday,or is it something you can put up with?

We went in March 2004 - it was bitterly cold and snowing but not too crowded, having said that we're booked for March next year so it didn't put us off too much, at that time of year it's difficult to say what the weather will do I shall be going prepared for the worse but if the sun comes out and we get some of those beautiful spring days it'll be a huge bonus.
