Help Please…I’m considering taking my DS5 to Disneyland in July or August. I haven’t been to DL in about 10 years (maybe more). Where do I start? In the past when I’ve gone to DL there was no planning involved but I would love for my son to see as much as he can. So what are some of the must see/must do items on your list? I want to go for at least 3 days.

Hi there! Well, if you haven't read it yet, you'll definitely want to check out HydroGuy's tips: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1520483

I think 3 days will definitely make a good vacation. You'll probably want to familiarize yourself with the different rides and attractions so you can make a list of must dos when you go. The must see shows are definitely Fantasmic, the fireworks and the recently opened World of Color show. Aladdin at DCA is not to be missed as well. If your son likes Pixar, the Pixar Play Parade is really fun as well.

Toy Story Midway Mania (DCA) and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters (DL) are really fun game rides that I think your son will enjoy. The Jedi Training Academy is a huge hit with Star Wars fans and the kids always seem to enjoy getting picked to participate.

Perhaps you can tell us what your son likes/doesn't like so that we can give you better tips ;)

I have brand new maps of both DCA and DLR that i just got yesterday ..if you'd like to have one to help plan your trip and days out!

i have one of each park! they are clean, i have not used them--they aren't for me anyhow!! :)

With as busy as this summer is with World of Color opening, if you are going to reserve a hotel room I'd suggest you choose dates soon and at least get a tentative reservation. Many of the reasonably priced/close hotels book up very early.

Read Hydroguy's threads and take the plunge!

Decide what days you are going. :thumbsup2

I would recommend a Tue/Wed/Thur if you have a choice. :)

Then decide where you are staying (have you decided?) Onsite is great...on Harbor walking distance (or at the CandyCane) is good to great as well. :thumbsup2

- Get to the parks early each day (at least 30 min. before gen. adm.)....

- do most of your touring & FP collecting the first 3 hours of each day.....

- then do other stuff & smell the roses when it gets more crowded.

- Park Hop each day.

- Take an afternoon swim/rest/nap each day.

- Return in the late afternoon / evening each day (with FPs from the morning).

As others have mentioned.....read all of Hydroguy's Tip Threads. :hippie:

Does your boy like Star Wars?

Have a great time at Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

FWIW, here are my DS6's faves: Indiana Jones, Pirates, Jedi Training Academy, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear at DL; Grizzly River Run, California Screamin', Tower of Terror (he's a bit of a thrill freak!) and Toy Story Midway Mania at DCA.
Also, don't miss Turtle Talk with Crush at DCA's Animation Building (all the other stuff in there is great too) He also really enjoyed the Muppets show- even though he was a little young to have seen the show on TV - and Aladdin.

If you read up on all of Hydroguy's tips and Hound 109's thread on how to get picked at the Jedi Training Academy, you won't go wrong!

Have fun!
