HELP! Disney Hotels!

So, this year we were looking to go on a cheap vacation. In case you people haven't ever been told how expensive Disney is...it is ridiculous (though worth every penny). So we ruled out Disney, but the short and long of it is, none of us can get excited about anywhere else!

We always stay at the Grand Floridian...I believe 3 times now with Concierge. So basically, we've been spoiled by the best of the best. However, we really want to go to WDW this year, but cannot stay there. Do you guys have any suggestions on some of the cheaper hotels that would offer at least a comparable experience? Room size/service/light-decor/etc.

I would especially appreciate any help from other GF enthusiasts (COUGHCATCOUGH)

i know the all star resorts are cheap
some of the other cheaper hotels would probably be pop century, port orleans, carribean beach

sometimes even the Swan is cheap

Well, I know with your background of staying the the GF, it would be a HUUUUGE difference to try and of the value resorts.

But I've stayed at all of them (except AS:Sports) and they are great!
They have a fun atmosphere, there is lots to do, sure it's not quiet and serene, but it's a lot of FUN

I would really recommend staying at a value resort, it'll be a different expirience and you're still at disney!! which is wicked awesome.

also, i concur, POFQ is AMAZZZING.
if that's in your price range i SERRRIOUSLY recommend that one, it is beaufitul and peaceful.

I don't think anything can compare to the GF from what I have read. Never stayed there though. POFQ is a nice moderate. The Dolphin is a nice deluxe and there are various discounts available for room rates. We stayed at POR last September and it was nice, but I think I like POFQ better. CB was very quiet and also quite nice. We didn't however enjoy ASMo when we stayed there a couple of years ago.

i love GF. But this year we are going to carribean beach. That one's cheap but a good experience.

never stayed at GF, but I would reccomend the Animal Kingdom Lodge!!!!

We have stayed their twice (sometimes prices are high or we are busy with work) both with the savvanah view. I don't know if I would go their without the savvanah view.

DO NOT DO A VALUE RESORT AND TRY NOT TO DO A MODERATE!!!!

The cabins at the Fort Wilderness Campground are soooooooo nice.

Wildlife, so if you go here bring a camera.

If you wanted to stay at a deluxe, Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge have lower prices than all of the others. The mods are nice, but I would probably not pick POFQ. All they have is a food court, and a bad one at that. POR or Coronado Springs would be better choices. I have never stayed at a value, but I would pick Pop for its theming.

I've stayed at ASMu for the band trip.
I thought values would be.... blah...because well, I'm used to DVC hotels like BWV and SSR.
But, I really liked ASMu. Great theme, the food courte wasn't bad, and the pools were fun.
OH, and make sure to lock your money, iPod, valuables in the safe. We did the magic express and they guy who delivered it to our rooms stole some PSP's, Ipods, and earphones.

I've also really wanted to stay at the contemporary.
My friend stayed there. She said she wouldn't room anywhere else lol.

I've never stayed at the GF but AKL is very lovely! Especially the view with the animals.

I don't know if it is any cheaper then GF but if it isn't the value resort's are nice aswell. It's a lot of themeing and fun there.
