Help! Digital Camera Novice...

I everyone! I'm considering taking my laptop so I can download my digital camera pics nightly instead of paying for them to be downloaded onto a CD. I was curious what type of CD do I need to burn them to. Also, do I burn them to the CD like I do music? I'm such a novice at all this! How many pics will fit on a CD?

Thanks!!!!! We leave in only a few short hours (ok days but I know it'll go by fast!).

We did this on our last trip, and will again this trip. Best advise, experiment/practice at home first. We used regular cds to do this, but depending on your computer, you may need additional equipment. It's not exactly like burning music. DH shot some test shots, and was sure what to do before we left on our trip, so we didn't lose a shot. We also had fun running a slide show each night on our trip of the pictures we took that day (with the Fantasmic soundtrack cd playing in the background). Great way to go to sleep!!!!

After burning a CD, view all the pictures off the CD to be sure thre were no errors. Have extra camera memory sticks or memory cards in case you are unable to get the CD made and therefore must set aside the memory sticks and not reuse them.

How many pics fit on a CD depens on what quality level (fine, medium, etc.) you choose on the camera.

You want to use a CD-R not the CD-RW. You also want to make 2 copies of the CD in case something happens to one of them. I would save the images to a file on my computer first and then all you have to do is drag them to the drive where the CD is.

If you have XP on your laptop when you put a CD in it will ask you if you want to create a CD. It is very easy to do.
