I would like to know what the differences between Value Resorts and Moderate Resorts are? (Besides $$$) The rooms look about the same (with exception of double sinks). Our last trip we stayed at Pop...it was nice but not our cup of tea. What are the advantages at staying at a moderate? I have stayed at the Beach Club, so I know what a deluxe resort has to offer. We have never stayed at a Moderate so, Please, any information would be appreciated!!

More theming at the pools including a pool slide. Usually a table service restaurant as well as the food court. Slightly bigger rooms, but still only double beds in the rooms.

We have only stayed at MODs on our trips to Disney because
of the Beautiful Landscaping, cute animals roaming on grounds, Quite/Pleasent surroundings (no large Icons), Good TS restaurant, Fridge in room(no additional cost), Hot Tub, Several Quiet Pools and 1 very nice Main Pool with slides/nice theming. For all that they have to offer I think the extra $$$ is well worth it. The MODs do have a larger room size. We like to come back from the parks and relax, we don't think that we would be able to relax in the Values because of the Theming (but we've never tried them so can't say for sure).
The Mods have never felt crowded because of there larger size (even if they are filled).
Our favorite Mods are the PO sister resorts POR & POFQ because we love the
boat ride to DTD (so fun and convenaint--to get to ADRs at other Resorts quickly). We will be staying at POFQ on our next trip 2008.

I've had good and bad guest service at all level of resort. Trust me, none of them are expempt from guest service issues from time to time. I will say that the CM's at the All Stars always seemed rushed when we've stayed there, a feeling that we seldom got at the moderates and deluxes.

IMHO the moderates offer much nicer furnishings and a quieter, most subdued atmosphere. The decor is subdued as opposed to loud, there are dining choices, pool slides, additional recreation facilities.

Although the additional square footage of the rooms is fairly minimal, it really makes it feel much more roomy and less shoe-box like once you are actually in the room.

We found the HVAC systems to be quieter, and loved the addition of a ceiling fan.

If you can afford the upgrade without blowing the budget, I'd encourage you to do so. IMHO the small differences make a world of difference in the enjoyment of your room.

I agree with both of the above statements. The mods are spread out more, the landscaping and theming is taken up a notch, fridge in room and more of an escape from the hustle and bustle of the parks.

The moderate resort rooms are larger than the value resorts. The CBR rooms are 340 square feet and the other moderates are 310 square feet. As you already know, there are double sinks which is a real plus.

The moderates have a food court as well as a full service restaurant. The moderates offer marinas and extra amenities that the values do not have.

We've stayed at the CBR twice and have found everything to our liking. The rooms were larger and we had lots of storage space. The bedroom and the sink/closet area could be divided by just pulling a curtain. This was nice when you have multiple people getting dressed or if someone is still asleep while the other is using the sink area.

Bus service at the CBR was efficient. We didn't share our buses with any other resorts which is the case when staying at the Port Orleans Resorts. There is an internal resort shuttle bus at the CBR if you don't want to walk.
I know that there are golf cart type shuttles at the Coronado too.

I like the fact that a refrigerator, coffee maker, along with coffee, iron, ironing board, hairdyer and toiletries are all provided free of charge in the moderates. When staying in a value, you must rent a refrigerator if you want one. If you are staying several days, that fee alone can add up.

We've considered staying at a value resort but, for the money saved by having a free refrigerator and the extra square footage the CBR has, we always go back to a moderate.

I stayed at ASMu in Oct. for one night - my first time at a value - and it wasn't bad. I really like the theming of the moderates though. I also appreciate that curtain that pulls to separate the sink area from the beds cause I'm always up early and I'll wake everyone up otherwise.

I thought the quiet pools at POR were lovely too - I was very impressed with that.

I preferred the food choices at the food court at ASMu though - more variety I thought.

I prefer the mods when I want to save some money.

Thanks for the information. DH was worried about up grading. He was afraid we would have the same issues as at the value but paying more money. You all have seem to put my worries to ease. The value was nice but it just seemed so noisy and busy that we never felt like we could relax. The pool was crowded, with the exception of 8 am in the morning. I am not putting down the value but like I stated earlier, it just was not for us. So we diffinately want a Moderate resort. :thumbsup2

Here is the conundurm....Which Moderate???;)

POFQ is small and compact. Not as noisy, only one bus stop. POR has more bus stops and is larger. Coronado Springs has a neat pool, the Dig Site, but has a lot of conventions as it has a convention center.

POFQ is by far the smallest, so that in itself makes the public areas generally the least busy.
THere are just a lot less people to make it noisy or congested.

After that probably CSR, because there are so many business people staying there the pools are seldom crowded.

Just an FYI:

CSR only has 1 sink. The other mods have 2 sinks.

Disney's mod resorts have different themes.

I would choose the theme that most appealed to my family and try it out.

CBR has the wonderful beach area.

POFQ has the New Orleans look.

POR has the Ab section and the Mansions with the deep south look.

And CSR has the southwest look.
--------------------------------------------------------
Here is my list of the differences-----

Mod vs Mod

'CBR is 340 square feet and the other mods are 314.

They are basically laid out the same but CSR only has 1 sink (the other have 2 sinks.)
CSR does not have a luggage seat.

Here is the layout of POR:

POFQ is not as spread out as the other mods or the values.

POR CBR and CSR are very spread out.

The mods have pool slides, a hot tub and a sit down restaurant (POFQ doses not have a sit down restaurant but shares with POR.)

POFQ and POR are concidered sister resorts so they share pools.

When staying at one of these resorts you can use the other resort's pool.
You can also refill your refillable mug at either of the food courts.

Some of the rooms at POR in the AB section have a trundle bed and can sleep 5.

---------------------------------------------------------
Transportation.

CBR has 7 bus stops.
CSR has 4 bus stops.
PO has 5 stops. 1st stop POFQ then 4 stops at POR.
POFQ & POR do have a boat to DTD.

----------------------------------------------------------
Elevators

CBR does not have elevators

CSR has elevators

POFQ has elevators

POR the AB section does not have elevators
POR the Mansions does have elevators

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

Having stayed at both value and moderate resorts, we found that in addition to the overall theming, the mods just have a quieter, more pleasant atmosphere. The mods seem less noisy and chaotic than values. JMHO. :)

DH and I LOVE Coronado Springs (CSR). Check out Buzz'z website; he has some AMAZING pics and a lot of great info:
http://coronado_springs.tripod.com/

We actually stayed at WL (deluxe) a couple of weeks ago and were really unhappy. It was NOT worth the price difference and we kept saying how we wished we were at CSR. I may eventually try the other moderates, but we have decided that CSR is our WDW home :)

I am sorry to hear that you did not like the WL. Checkin out your site, thanks!!

For the money, mods are really a huge step up. Haven't been to one in a good 12 years, I'm sure the rooms have aged a bit since, but can't be worse than the values. Haven't stayed to a value, but overall the atmosphere is way better at the mods. If you want to splurge even more, the S&D are about the same price as the watervieew mod rooms.

We stayed at POFQ and loved it.. it did not seem croweded or busy to us. We visited the All Stars to look around and it stressed us out just stopping in. POFQ gets my vote

Ok all here is our opinion: We loved the Value Resorts:wizard: . The cast members from the front desk to the mousekeepers were excellent! We had a blast:banana: . I am sure everyone expects 4 star when you travel, well we always have 5 star for goodness sakes! The All-Star Movie was the best place we "EVER" stayed at. The accomodations were spotless, the staff was accomodating with everything, even down to the room we stayed in, they changed our room immediately after finding out my son was a Buzz lightyear fan. We are staying at the Caribbean Beach this May so I can let you all know what we thought of that, hopefully the same will apply. Happy Planning to all of you. :grouphug:
