I just joined (Hi everyone, love you all, have gotten a lot of neat tips from here) but I am really sweating bullets now. 2 weeks until I go and am concerned...we booked a house in orlando for the majority of our stay and have never stayed in Disney property so thought it would be fun so for the last few days we are staying at Port Orleans Riverside....REALLY wanted Comteporary, but the AP rates took forever to come out and that was the only way I could afford it...IS THIS A BAD HOTEL? Should I try and change it?? Also any advice on discount codes? Thanks so much

Oh my gosh -- I don't think there are any bad hotels at Disney, I just think different people like different things.

I hope you enjoy your stay. Maybe you can take a day and do some resort hopping, to get a feel for the others to see if there is anywhere you might like to stay in the future.

I wanted to stay at the Contemporary, too, but we went there for Chef Mickey's and DH said he di dnot like the "feel" of the hotel at all -- he thought it was too "cold." I, however, thought it was really cool.

Anyway, have a good time!

This is our favorite moderate resort. IMHO, it is the most beautiful, peaceful, relaxing and fun. Also, you can get a water taxi down to DD. I am sure that you will love it here.....and I agree with Shells9, I don't think there is a bad hotel at Disney...

We LOVED this resort! I loved my morning walk for coffee through the beautiful grounds. We stayed in the mansion section and loved the theme, magnolia trees, gazebos and butterfly gardens. We walked through the bayou section and was impressed with the change in vegetation. The food court is one of the best we've experienced and enjoyed the choice of transportation to DT Disney. The pool was great too, a pretty decent slide. There is an entertainer who plays in the lounge certain nights, Bob Jackson I think, and a lot of folks on this board love to go see him regardless of where they are staying.

I think you made a great choice.

I only know 4 people that have stayed there, and each family loved it! Hope you do too! Have fun! :)

We love the deluxe resorts, but when the money isn't avaialbe, we always choose to stay at Riverside (sorry, it will always be Dixie Landings to me) is THE BEST!! We have stayed there over 5 times and would love to stay there again for our little 3 day stay b/f our cruise, but $$ was a factor (I NEED that massage on the Magic at least twice LOL), so we are staying offsite for the first time.

The foodcourt is amazing, and the theming is awesome. Never have a problem with CM's, my dd loves the pool, etc. etc. etc.

We have never had a problem there in all our stays. We alway stay in Alligator Bayou 14. Perfect! We are very dissapointed we can't stay there this year, but maybe a little bonus money will come in and we can move to our other little "home" in Disney.

Great resort, we stay there all the time. :)
